Editor’s Note: We originally published this blog in April of 2015, but were reminded of it today. We had 7,000 Facebook followers when we published it. Today we have 36,000.
Do you think the most unsuccessful boycott in the history of mankind has any chance of slowing down? Nope. The hippies have picked up some new followers who are under the impression that 19 year olds who promote racism and pornography on the Internet are somehow immune to public criciticism. And let me tell you, they’ve really added some winners to their ranks. Check out this guy:
Ole, ole, ole, ole…….Turtleboy Sports is known for deforming characters. Anyway, this poor guy is pretty new to the Internet, but nevertheless believes he is Rosa Parks, and has begun his own boycott:
LOL. They never get tired of guessing do they? We’re not even gonna bother trying to convince these idiots that there’s a bunch of us anymore, because honestly, what’s the point? They’re gonna believe what they want. But at the end of the day what does it matter? We’re not gonna stop. Ever. You’re only bringing us more readers every day. #pageviews
Anyway, this guy is obviously unfamiliar with the Internet. He’s got a couple hundred friends on there, yet he keeps sharing his boycott:
He got world class hippie Dana Remian to like it. He’s basically an unstoppable force of nature at this point. Yet he still decided to share the same thing six minutes later:
Then this was my favorite part:
Hey kids – how does this Internet thing work? I don’t get it? Where do you put the mail? How do I get on AOL? Can this thing show me how to tip 11% on a restaurant bill?
Anyway, Kathy and Dan eventually figured out how to work the email machine and they started firing off threatening emails to our sponsors, threatening to never go there for the first time in their lives. And one of our sponsor’s gave him one of the most epic, freedom loving beatdowns I’ve ever seen:
I’m writing to you in response to your effort to “boycott” the sponsors on Turtleboy Sports. First, if you don’t like what they blog about, then don’t read it. The fact is TBS gets a lot of traffic on their site. The traffic includes people who agree with TB’s views as well as people who don’t. Either way, the sponsors benefit. The sponsors don’t necessarily agree with TB, they advertise to increase business in their establishments. We’re in business to make money, it doesn’t matter from where our customers originate. TBS is certainly a controversial blog, but they’re getting page views from both sides, which equates to the sponsors receiving more traffic on their sites, and new customers.
The fact that you’re trying to “boycott” the sponsors on their site just shows your level of maturity. You’re doing the exact same thing that you’re chastising TBS for doing. What makes your actions any different than TB posting something that you do not agree with? You’re knowingly and purposefully screwing with the livelihood of quite a few people. By trying to boycott a sponsor, you’re affecting the employees that work at these establishments. These employees don’t have anything to do with where/whom their employer chooses to advertise. These people rely on the business that TBS readers bring to the sponsors. In addition, the sponsors are small business owners in and around Worcester. Small businesses struggle enough by having to compete with the big chain stores/restaurants as well as the challenges they face on a daily basis with taxes, insurance, etc. Again, we’re in business to make money and typically a small business can’t afford to lose customers when they’re simply trying to make a living.
The girl you’re “defending” is no saint (she actually portrayed herself as the opposite in my opinion) and deserved to be called out on some of the things she has posted online. The fact that she’s condoning people blocking traffic and delaying an ambulance getting through Kelley Square speaks VOLUMES about the kind of person she is. Once you post something online, it’s out there for the world to see. Nothing is private in the land of social media and if someone is going to jump on their high horse and call other people racist, then she needs to have thick skin to deal with the backlash of her comments.
You said you, “could creep around social media sites and come up with something as nonsensical and dehumanizing as this shit. Would I? No. Why? Integrity.”
Integrity???? You’re not showing much integrity by trying to ruin other people’s lives/businesses. You think calling the sponsors because you don’t like a blog is moral and ethical? That’s the epitome of hypocrisy right there.
If you don’t like or agree with TBS, then don’t read it. You’re more offended by the blog on Sam Dumas than Sam Dumas is! She’s a big girl and can fight her own battles. You should really put your efforts into something that matters instead of trying to ruin someone’s life/business. Again, if you don’t like TBS, don’t read the blog, but please, leave the sponsors out of it.
Boom. Roasted. I would literally kill a man for Bennie’s Cafe right now.
Seriously, that was freaking biblical right there. I wanted to slow clap. I wanted to stand up and salute. But I was hungry so I did the only sensible thing – I got my ass down to Bennie’s and got their world famous rueben sandwich. That’s how you really stick it these nudnik milkshakes.
Don’t let bullies like Dan Collins win. Dan and Kathy Collins are trying to take food off the table for the hard working employees who wait tables and tends bar at Bennie’s. And all because they’re butthurt by a blog. Instead of just not reading this is what they do. What can you do? The world is filled with evil people. But every time they do something like this we are going to fight back even harder. If any of our sponsors gets an email like this we will gladly reprint your response and urge our readers to frequeunt your business.
Because here at Turtleboy Sports we respect and honor the small businesses of our community and want them to do well. We are loyal to them until the end of the earth. Even if they have to leave us because they just can’t afford to do it anymore, we still have their back. Anna’s Cleaning was with us for a few months, but I will still gladly tell anyone who wants their office or home cleaned to call up my favorite Polish immigrant family in America, because they will clean the shit out of your house.
If you own a business and you’re still wasting your money, or know a business that is still wasting their money advertising in Pulse Magazine or in the Telegram, smack some shit into them. Advertising with the Telegram is like being in a bad relationship with an ugly woman who is using you for your money. You think Clive is gonna have your back when push comes to shove? Nope. Join the revolution. Email us right now .
So Turtle riders need to step up their game and keep going to our sponsors and giving them your business. Take pictures. Write “Turtleboy sent you” on receipts. Wear your “I Am Turtleboy” shirt (or buy one if you haven’t yet) and take a selfie in front of one of these fine establishments. We’ll gladly put your pics up on Facebook to let the world know that you are a winner and you support freedom. God bless America.

Turtleboy Sports does more for economic development in this town than all of City Hall.
Worcester Liberals are perfectly content living in their own filth as long as they’re pursuing the latest social justice trend.
PS: who is “aidin Kearney”?
Is there any literate person in the Woo who has not indulged in a little TB? just a peek? didn’t think so. And the traffic from City Hall and the Statehouse, more than old media.
What day do they have lobster rolls
I go to Bennies a couple times a week, it’s a great place, good food at a good price., friendly patrons and staff too. I wouldn’t go there if people like Dan Collins were there, cuz I’m a internet snob LOL
Great come back Jay, Sandy & I will try to stop by Bennies tonight. Hope to see you.
This article is old but someone should tell the poster it’s defamation of character not deformation!
I know where dinner is sat night! Going to make my first pilgrimage to Bennies….
Finnish Goalie, you said it best!!! LOL
PROTESTERS SUCK
Thank you for the support everyone. We have some of the hardest working people and not one of them had a say in where we chose to advertise, so they shouldn’t suffer because of people like this who try to boycott local mom & pop businesses. Epic FAIL!!!!! If someone doesn’t like TB, then they shouldn’t read it. If they don’t want to frequent the businesses that advertise on TB, then don’t!
It’s as simple as that.
Just keep on doing what you have been doing. I have lived in the area for over 35 years and just recently discovered your place. You do everything right, Good prices, excellent staff, good food and the place is clean.
We really enjoy going there and are there at least 2-3 times a week
Dear Dan Collins,
There is no honor in being an internet white knight.
-Wormtown
The “protesters” posting on here (under fake names) are hilarious. Benny’s, and all of Greendale for that matter (minus the fucking scumbag high school kids and their parents’ that have been in the news lately), is full of hardworking people. They work all day and then stop in for a food/drinks after work. Go into Benny’s any day after 4:00 or so and the place will be full of people from all walks of life, who just got off work and are usually still in their work clothes. These are the type of people who can’t stand the starry eyed college kids who think they can change the world by blocking traffic and keeping regular people from going about their day. I’m sure Benny’s and all of their patrons are happy that you are “boycotting” a business you have never been to before. Fucking idiots
Pretty tough to boycott a business you don’t go into.
Bennie’s lobster roll on Fridays is the bomb!
But I wonder how happy they would be if they knew they were being mislead on how many people they are reaching, 500,000 page views is allot different then 500,000 unique people per month 🙂
I just can’t figure out if intentionally defrauding your advertisers or just not sure how the internet works.
I think the businesses who advertise here are more than capable of determining if they are getting a good roi.
Nice job once again Bennie’s Cafe. As Glenn Ordway used to say on WEEI’s the former Big Show, “You’re making my point.” You guys are good and THAT was an awesome response to idiocy. Keep up the good work and another Shock Top and a lobster Mac and Cheese plz!?
it’s cool how much this site looks/reads like it’s from 1999
Yet here you are……
I bet you were born after 1999
I have never heard of this place until I read this blog. I will be trying it out
I tried it because of the blog. The wings were great (grilled, not fried) and even though I went in on a Sunday, they had chowder (menu said it was Fridays only) and I’m a chowder snob but it was actually really good. Thick but not pasty. Also, drinks were cheap, staff (well, the one bartender I talked to) was friendly and free popcorn. Not bad.
Wow. Cool.
You must be a really beating guy.
I’ll be at Bennie’s tomorrow!!
They won’t miss your business. I’d never heard of them until I read this blog post. Going tomorrow with the wife.
So?
Oh yeah, I’m sure you’re a regular
*eyeroll*
I was.
Really? So where’s the popcorn located?
Up your ass
Right with the peanut butter and crackers. Near the Keno machine at 12:00 in the back of the restaurant. Nazi.
Turtle boy makes me hard.
Hmmm, “rj” and “Finnish goalie”
Did another name get banned or something? Had to take a bit of time to come out with both of those and fake e-mail addresses.
🙂
Got my hair cut at The Buzz today, it was great! Never would have even known they were there without their ad on TBS.
Nice shout out to Anna’s, they did a great job on my house and I found them here.
Wow! Thank you!
Annascleaning.net
My pleasure. The appliances, kitchen, bathrooms and smooth surfaces never shined so brightly and the clean house smell was awesome! I would have had to use up vacation time to accomplish what you guys did in a few hours!
