Yesterday we blogged about Andover High School hockey coach Chris Kuchar being fired, despite an unprecedented amount of success on and off the ice at AHS, because superintendent Shelley Berman can’t get over the fact that his son Dale was benched 3 years ago. Read all about it here so I don’t have to rehash it for you. The update today is that the kids walked out of school in protest to support their coaches.
“Respect our coaches” Incredible show of support from Andover HS students l. About 200 did a walk out in the middle of school to protest on behalf of their former hockey coach who was not rehired #wbz pic.twitter.com/VT4HQqbGgB

Students walk out of #Andover High to protest the firing of a hockey coach. I was mid-conversation with the senior captain when police told me to get off school grounds @EagleTrib @BurtTalksSports pic.twitter.com/V5O4uLL0wL

I’ve never been a big “walk out of school to protest guy,” because most of the time it’s just kids using a national tragedy to skip class. Ya know, because Trump won, or climate change, or racism, or whatever manufactured excuse they can come up with.
But this is meaningful. This is something I applaud. Administration at this school is corrupt and doesn’t care about what is best for the kids. It’s run by a carpetbagging tyrant who has no ties to the community and thinks only of himself when making personnel decisions.
It wasn’t just Coach Kuchar who got the shaft either. Let’s not forget that in April the highly successful boys volleyball coach was suspended after some snotnosed kid whined about his coaching style on Instagram because the coach had the audacity to remove him from the game for being horrible at volleyball. The kid of course refused and he was summarily yelled at. Boo-hoo.
People listen when kids stand up for themselves. Hopefully the taxpayers in Andover will come to their senses and do something to remove this tyrant before his reign of terror continues.
