Joe Petty Said He Wants More DOJ Race Discussions If Reelected At Last Night’s Debate

Joe Petty insisted Worcester was safe last night and actually had the balls to say that the DOJ race discussions were a productive use of city resources.

Last night we had a reporter at the first Mayoral debate, featuring the three candidates for Mayor of Worcester – Jumpin Joe Petty, Michael Gaffney, and Bill “at least I didn’t get last” Coleman. Jumpin Joe was slinging his typical jive –

“We are making good progress in Worcester. The city is alive with progress. I have great optimism and hope for this city’s future. This is a good city, a safe city. I’m tired of people tearing it down.”

We are making good progress. Right. This is what the Worcester Common looks like at 2:00 PM on a Thursday:

Ladies and gentelemen, this is what progress looks like under Joe Petty.

Look, I love Worcester as a lifelong resident, but it’s OK sometimes to admit that there is some stuff we can clean up. Don’t piss in my corn flakes and call it 2% milk. When I can see with my own eyes that junkies have declared eminent domain on the Worcester Common, this isn’t progress. I don’t give a shit about hotels at city square, or yuppy apartments being built, or pretending Main South is a livable area because the HUD spruced up some homes.

Here’s some things I would consider progress:

  • I should be able to walk around downtown safely without being accosted by drug addicts.
  • There should be new businesses opening up downtown that normal people would actually go to. Sorry, Worcester Bling Bling isn’t cutting it and neither is the Midtown Mall.
  • My kids should be able to go to classes without being disrupted by behavior problems in the public schools.
  • Cops should be put in high schools after vice principals are assaulted instead of waiting until guns are found at Burncoat and Worcester Tech.
  • Melinda Boone shouldn’t be hurting my child’s education at the expense of her graduation rate charts.
  • Worcester would stop giving away money to fake non-profits and other political organizations that don’t provide services they claim to and shut down city streets.
  • City leaders would stop giving in to people who seek to divide us on racial lines, and stop encouraging them with special meetings with Boone and DOJ visits to Worcester.
  • Property taxes go down instead of up.
  • The schools are properly funded and South High football doesn’t have to beg for money to put together a football team.
  • Principals started being held to the same standards that teachers are.
  • The city became more proactive in handling the opiate crisis.

Under the Petty administration we haven’t seen progress in any of those areas. So while he brags about a new hotel that no Worcester resident will ever use, he continues to ignore the things that we all see on a day to day basis while living in Worcester. He wouldn’t know any of this because he is an upper class, connected machine hack, whose kids go to PRIVATE SCHOOL, and he gets paid six figures for a no show job in Boston so that he can campaign 24/7.

That’s not progress. Newsflash Joe Petty – Turtleboy isn’t “tearing down the city.” He’s trying to help rebuild it from the ashes that you’ve created. Stop telling us that the city is safe. Stop telling us that the schools that your kids will never have to go to are safe. It just shows how out of touch and elitist you are. And more than anything it proves that you are a bold faced liar who will say anything in order to get reelected, because your moronic supporters have bought into your “Gaffney is the Tea Party bogey man” rhetoric.

Gaffney put it best: “I believe in Worcester, but we do have problems that need to be addressed.”

Exactly. And that’s OK. It’s OK to admit that something isn’t working. It doesn’t mean you’re a pessimist or you don’t believe in Worcester. It means you’re admitting that there is a problem and trying to take steps to address it.

Bill Coleman had to throw this one in there: “It would be great if we had a City Council that better reflected our city’s population and diversity.”

I agree Billy!!! We can start by putting up some minority candidates for office who aren’t gigantic, fat jokes like you are. When’s the last time anyone saw Bill Coleman campaigning? Where’s his signs? You ever see him doing standouts? Has he knocked on your door? Nope. Because he’d rather whine about the lack of diversity on the city council then get off of his fat ass and do some actual campaigning. Oh yea, and he petitioned the city council to drop the charges against the Kelley Square 4. Real winner this guy.

The real kick in the balls came when they finally brought up the EPIC FAILURE that were the DOJ race discussions this summer. Since this was Joe Petty’s idea he had to pretend like they were a “huge success” (he actually used those words last night):

“I’m very proud with what we did. People felt accepted and I would do it again. We have to make sure that everyone feels they are a member of this community.”

People felt accepted? Our sales guy showed up at the DOJ talks and literally was bullied and harassed by CAPS LOCK WANDA!!! You’d do it again? Of course you would. Because it’s easier to give into assholes like Joyce McNickles and Sonya Conner than it is to tell them to go pound sand.

Don’t forget that at these meetings the following shenanigans happened:

  • Students showed up and were allowed to make baseless allegations that there teachers were racist, including teachers who told students that they were “color blind,” and a guidance counselor who told a D student that they shouldn’t apply to WPI.
  • The City of Worcester passed out a handout that said that only white people are capable of being racist.
  • The City of Worcester passed out a flyer explaining to white people what their “white privilege” was all about.
  • Sutton resident Joyce McNickles was allowed to deliver a racist poem entitled, “Dear White People” at the final meeting. Nothing racist about that!!
  • All of the meetings were attended by the same group of people, and no dissenting opinions were welcomed. The taxpayers provided food, beverages, and also paid for the venues and maintenance of the facilities that were used for these.
  • We still haven’t received a final report nor have we been told how much this cost the taxpayers.

There’s a ton more stuff in those linked blogs, but you get the point. Anyone who is “proud” of that gigantic DISASTER cannot possibly be fit to be mayor. At the end of the day all those “discussions” did was take a volatile situation and make it worse.

But of course Jumpin Joe thought the meeting was successful. That’s because at the final meeting he admitted that the ENTIRE PURPOSE of the discussions was to investigate Turtleboy Sports for daring to use the first amendment in order to criticize his failing administration.

Screen-Shot-2015-07-13-at-8.42.51-PM Screen-Shot-2015-07-13-at-8.42.36-PM

Look, I realize there are still some Petty supporters who read this blog and are standing pat because Gaffney rubs them the wrong way. But what more do you need to see? How can anyone possibly say that the last two years have been successful? Who amongst us actually believes the lie that Worcester is making progress, or that Worcester is safe? Who thinks the DOJ meetings were a good thing? Do you think we should “do it again?” Because Joe Petty said at the debate last night that he does.

The bottom line is Gaffney smoked him in the first debate. All he has to do is show up and tell the truth and watch as Petty’s lies get shot down one by one. But none of this means anything if you don’t vote, and you don’t get other people to vote. The only side of the city that votes in large numbers is the West Side, which the Petty machine and McGovern crime family control. We need people in Grafton Hill, Webster Square, Quinsigamond Village, Lincoln Street, West Boylston Street, and all the other neighborhoods where people are being ignore, to vote on November 3. It’s not enough just for you to vote either. You have to get three other people to do the same. Remember, old people don’t read Turtleboy Sports, but they vote. Get your grandmother to vote. #Grandmas4Gaffney.

Turtle Boy, I don’t know if you read these comments, but I have been indulging in a past time many think is incredibly dangerous. I’ve been thinking because the subject has been nagging at me since I first came to your site oh so many months ago and that is a solution. A solution to the opiod problem, a solution to the violence problem, to poverty, to race relations, so on and so forth.

I am not a libral nor am I a conservative. I am a straight down the road moderate. As far as people go it is my continual effort to treat people with love, respect and compassion. As you know it can be difficult especially when people spit in my face and call me a racist when in fact it is their behavior and words which are racist, but I digress.

Every one has compaints. You say, “The hippies are crazy!” The hippies say, “TB is racist”. It’s a never ending unproductive circle going no where. Complaints and finger pointing is all I see. No solutions.

Whilst thinking of the issue I told myself. Tackling the opoid issue or the violence issue all on its own will not help anything. The issues are like the head of a hydra, lop one off and another just grows back. Therefore, we have to tackle the root of the problem from whence the heads of these hydras spring.

What is the root of the problem? Poor education? Nope that’s just another hydra head. Poverty? Again another hydra head. What what what?

It’s children. Children are the root. The problem so many people don’t enter into parenthood as the commitment it is and when you have a culture which is rich with parental abandonment then you have no one raising the children.

Children do not learn to be good functioning human beings by osmosis. Some do, but really the world around us bears testament that children need to be taught good moral lessons on how to behave and treat others. Many parents these days are caught up in the cycle of selfishness. They learned it from their own parents and they think that’s how it should be. It’s really difficult to break those patterns. We become our parents after all.

The first step would be, SEX EDUCATION. Do you know how many people believe myths about how pregnancy does or does not happen? Teach people that you can’t go riding bare back and expect no repercussions. I know there is a certain faction of people who do not like the thought of birth control and I say well then put up or shut up. Start taking in as many foster kids as you can mentally, emotionaly and montiarily support and take care of the children born without birth control beause my dearest loves, sex is going to happen and you can’t stop it.

People need to be eduated on how to prevent pregnancy, the risks of disease and so on. There is root #1

Parenting, once someone becomes pregnant and decides they are going to raise said child instead of giving them up for adoption then they need to be taught how to parent. It’s a really tough job. I am devoted 100% to my child. I starve and wear rags before my child suffers and everything from Spongebob to watching the kids down the street play is an excercise in learning how to behave like a proper human. Unfortunately, so many people care only about themselves and facebook photo ops that the kids are considered burdens or posessions. Well guess what? They are people. They have feelings. Treat them badly and they learn to treat others badly.

Educate children BEFORE they turn 8 all the way up to ten that drugs are not good for them. Instill the horrible consequences. Don’t pad it. They can take it. They NEED to know before they are influenced by the world around them that drugs WILL ruin their lives. Yeah scare tactics suck but once they understand the enormity of it they will be less likely to dismiss what they have learned.

I know, that this isn’t the ultmate solution but for the most part we can’t stop The Powers That Be from throwing away tax dollars, so instead of throwing them away on diversity training…and “race relations” and taking the blood pressure of Africain American Men, Start holding Sex ed and PARENTING classes instead.

I mean seriously, if these people REALLY cared about their community like they say they are. If they are really concerned. If they really want to do something? There is your answer. Otherwise they are just criminals out to bilk the system.

Sadly, I’m pretty sure which they are. But at least someone has offered a proactive solution.. The ball is in their court.

My wife and I have a nice house on the west side, which we are selling to get out of this hell hole. We went to two city council meetings to try to get help in preventing a non-profit which met no zoning regulations from moving into our neighborhood with its usual horde of third-world, refugeee employees. We received no help, but the worst was Gaffney. This “lawyer” knew nothing about the laws involved which didn’t keep him from giving a blow hard speech, which was incorrect in every detail. He repeated this performance the following week after failing to get up to speed on the issue. I can’t stand Petty, but Gaffney is no better- a blowhard.

Oh unless your 80 it was the same shit in schools, unemployment, theft, drugs, scams etc. The only thing that’s changed is you. Let’s not make everyone believe gaffs the answer or anyone else for that matter. I mean we just had the “change” you can believe president. Stop kidding yourselves. Working in public safety for years experience tells ya behaviors and bad decision making is a result of poor morals and values at home in the family. But like I’ve said on here all I’ve seen in the comments is people contradict themselves.

WWy, is on to something. Not one person is going to make it happen. At least Gaffney is acknowledging the problems that Petty sees it with colored rim rose glasses. The mayor’s job is mostly ceremonial as it’s the City Manager who makes the decisions & runs the city. What ought to be a slap in the face to Augustus are the pictures of the common posted above. At least if Gaffney is elected it could sound an end to the “all is well” theme. As far as fixing anything it’ll just be more chamber politics.

Is Michael Gaffney that is running for Mayor related to any of the Gaffneys on the Worcester Police Department in particular Lieutenant Tom Gaffney? Just curious. If so this could be a good thing for public safety.
