Ever since a 100 person brawl ensued on Water Street last week, and a whole bunch of people got stabbed and a some cops were assaulted, the Mambo Drinks lounge has been the hot topic in the Canal District. This area once was considered the hot spot for people who still like to go out on Friday and Saturday nights, but it’s kind of hard to do that when a bunch of gang bangers from Mambo Drinks are stabbing each other. Just sayin.
Anyway, the City Manager and Police Chief won’t allow other business owners in that district to point fingers, because the owners of Mambo Drinks are Latino. And pointing fingers at them would be racist.
LOL. “Definition of character.” According to Internet the definition is “the mental and moral qualities distinctive to an individual,” or “a person in a novel, play, or movie.”
Anyway, since political correctness makes it impossible for people to point out the actual causes of problems in society, Mambo Drinks cannot be blamed for any problems on Water Street. Last week at a meeting of Canal District business owners, those who tried to voice their concerns about Mambo Drinks hurting their businesses by attracting the crowd they do, were shot down. Because criticizing Mambo Drinks is racist.
Since then Mambo Drinks continues to advertise for more of their Thursday and Sunday night parties:
Hey ladies, did you hear that? If you can get five hot babes in cocktail dresses together on a Sunday night, you can win a free hookah from Mambo Drinks!!!
The fact of the matter is that Mambo Drinks has been a problem ever since it opened up. Here’s a police report from 2014, which illustrates the type of shenanigans Mambo Drinks can get away with simply because our officials are too afraid to discipline them for fear of being called racist:
So the club owner, Henry Luna, was clearly wasted. There was close to 50 people inside drinking AFTER the time in which Mambo Drinks is licensed to serve alcoholic beverages. Any normal bar owner would have had their liquor license suspended. Not Mambo Drinks though. We can’t point fingers at them. Even though they were clearly guilty as sin, the three person board of Karen Shea, Walter Shea, and Anthony Salvidio decided to give them a warning:
They got a simple warning. Yet after several high profile fights that have happened outside of their club, they have not lost their liquor license for even a day. How many warnings do they get before they get a spanking? This of course is strange because in 2014 Chairperson Karen Shea bragged about suspending the licenses of offenders who have served alcohol passed closing hours:
“We had to suspend their license for a couple of days, and when it happened again, we had to suspend their license for a week.”
So if you get caught once – you get suspended for a couple days. If you get caught more than once it’s a week. But if you’re Mambo Drinks you get unlimited mulligans. Makes sense.
Here’s another question for Karen Shea and the license commission – why haven’t they addressed the indisputable fact that Mambo’s Promotions Manager is a 20 year old who frequently gets drunk inside the club? Don’t take our word for it, Jonathan Pena’s pictures and ID are all over his Facebook page:
Oh that’s right, we can’t point fingers at Mambo Drinks. That would be racist. Silly Turtleboy.
Here’s the best part. Just two months ago the License Commission put forward an ordinance that would ban bars on Shrewsbury Street from being too loud past 9 PM on Sundays:
“Sounds generated by licensed establishments in the city may not be plainly audible at a distance of 150 feet or more beyond the property boundary at any time; and sounds at the licensed establishments cannot be plainly heard at a neighboring house at a distance of 50 feet beyond the property boundary at a distance of 50 feet or more after 9 p.m. Sunday through Thursday and after 10 p.m. Friday and Saturday.”
Bar owners on Shrewsbury Street were not happy about it. But since they’re just a bunch of whiny white people, they can go straight to hell.
Notice the License Commission itself lacks diversity. Two of the people even have the same last name. Walter Shea is the newest member of the board, and guess who appointed him?
Of course – Ed Augustus. Keep in mind, Ed Augustus authorized over $150,000 in taxpayer money to find and hire a “Chief Diversity Officer” because Worcester’s leadership is too white. Think about that. A guy who only hires white people spent taxpayer money to find someone who won’t hire so many white people. This man got a rating of “exceeds expectations” from every idiots on the City Council except for Mike Gaffney and Konnie Lukes. Worcester is run by idiots and we will continue to expose Mambo Drinks so that we can make the Canal District great again.
