Update on the 100 person brawl outside of Mambo Lounge on Water Street – turns out the whole thing was racist:

The co-owner of Mambo Lounge said the details surrounding the 100-person brawl that broke out Monday have been exaggerated, and that the popular nightclub is being targeted by surrounding businesses because they are successful and cater to a Latino-based crowd.

Yup, it’s the fact that it’s a club frequented by Latinos. That’s what people have a problem with it. Not the 100 people outside stabbing each other and assaulting cops. It’s the fact that they speak Spanish. But wait….there’s a successful Mexican restaurant across the street (El Patron) that no one seems to have any problem with. Now I’m just plain confused. 🙁

Oh yea, and just a few months ago Turtleboy wrote about another huge brawl that took place outside of Mambo Drinks. We even had videos for that blog:

Was that guy live? Couldn’t tell from the videos. But what I could tell is that Water Street is a literal war zone every time Mambo Drinks gets out because it attracts a clientele that runs around yelling “we live” while watching fight after fight after fight break out.

Police say at around 1:30 a.m. Monday over 100 people spilled out onto Water and Harrison streets after a comedian had finished a show at the Mambo Lounge. Officers said some people in the fight wielded bats, knives and bottles. Officers were pelted with bottles as they exited their cruisers, Worcester police said.

Oh I see. It’s all the comedian’s fault. If your crowd comes to your show armed with bats and knives and leaves angrier than when they first went in, you should probably get out of the comedy business. Just sayin.

Melvin Santana, co-owner of the Mambo Lounge, denies these claims, saying that the fight was only between the rap group that had performed that night, and a group he suspects may have been local gang members. He said the fighting occurred when the rap group exited the club around 1:15 a.m. Although police said over 100 people were fighting, Santana said many of those people were onlookers.

Newsflash Melvin – the fact that your club is acting as a magnet for local gang members is the heart of the problem. Ya know where gang members don’t go? The Boynton. Because if you dress up like a broke pimp or a midget Sammy Sosa, you’re probably stick out like a sore thumb at the Boynton.

He flatly denied that anyone in the crowd was armed, and believes the details of that night have been distorted by neighborhood businesses.

Guess it’s just a huge conspiracy. But why would there be a conspiracy against Mambo Drinks?

“It gets me mad because it did not happen like that,” Santana said. “We feel like it’s something racist because (the neighborhood has) been attacking us since we first moved in. As a Spanish club, this is one of the best things to happen to Worcester.”

The club was packed with over 200 people Sunday night, a detail Santana feels may draw ire from surrounding businesses who usually close on Sunday night.

“We have 200 people every Sunday, when they have to shut down their businesses,” Santana said. “I think it is a little bit of jealousy.”

Oh that’s right – racism. Because when facts and logic fail you it’s always best to just toss the race card out like cheap wine.

He said the club has hired five security guards to keep gang activity out.

If you feel the need to hire five security guards for your club, that should be a red flag. Normal bars don’t require five security guards.

In addition, the club enforces a strict dress code, has a high cover charge and has a zero-tolerance policy for fighting, in order to keep trouble out.

Strict dress code and high cover charge?

13895178_10207081036880637_7091562123424525490_n

Oops!!

Who would’ve guessed that Melvin Santana is a bold faced liar? And honestly, a high cover charge won’t keep out the assholes. Drug dealers have money and love to waste their money on meaningless clubs like this. Because even though they’re living in Section 8 apartments in Main South, they still dress like this when they go out:

1476380_747151302029531_8519065690798767530_n

But nevertheless, that quote basically proves that he is 110% full of shit.

However, businesses in the neighborhood said the Mambo Lounge has been a source of trouble since it opened. The Wycked Java cafe across the street had their window shattered during the fight.

Screen Shot 2016-04-30 at 11.15.26 PM

“There have been fights there for the past year since Mambo installed. The crowd that Mambo gets is a high-end crowd that attracts big bands from New York,” said Scott Fair, who renovated Wycked Java when it first opened. “The problem is that some of the local gangs like to hang out outside. They won’t go in because bouncers will keep them out.”

So basically this same exact scenario happened in The Wire. A bunch of New York hoodlums kept coming to West Baltimore and they weren’t welcome. So local hooligans Snoop Pearson and Christ Partlow went around shooting anyone who couldn’t identify famous West Baltimore rappers:

Never fails. That appears to be what is happening here. Grafton Hill’s finest is just sitting outside of the Mambo Lounge like vultures, and they’re quizzing people on their way out by asking them if they recognize these faces:

If you don’t know who Matt Money is then you’re getting stabbed. That’s just the way things go on the mean streets of Worcester.

John Giangregorio, former president of the Canal District Alliance, said he requested a revocation of the Mambo Lounge’s license early in the year, but that his demands fell on deaf ears.

Look, it’s pretty simple – this club has got to go. This is the most important area to Worcester’s economic development. We don’t need hotels no one is gonna stay in. We need restaurants and bars where normal people can go out and enjoy themselves without getting stabbed. Other bars on the street are closing early because they don’t want their patrons getting hurt. That’s insane.

Water Street is in City Councilor Candy Carlson’s district. The same councilor who was whining about needing a safe space because she saw the “c” word one time. Hey Candy, what are you gonna do about this? Because if you can’t help fix this situation then what good are you? Why do you exist? Do you think the people of District 2 elected you so you could whine about Turtleboy and try to get us banned from ever being mentioned at Council meetings? Nope. They elected you because there were no better alternatives, and you’re supposed to clean this shit up. So yea, if you don’t fix this you can pretty much guarantee that you’re gonna have a spot in the Turtleboy Sports graveyard.

If they hired a detail cop, all their gang-banger/drug dealer clientele would stay away, impinging on their cash flow from selling overpriced flavored vapor and booze. Just sayin’.

Obviously playing the famous race-card, is the only thing they have to lean on. Having a huge brawl in the street, would bet inside too. Is against the law, maybe not Mambo laws, but the real-world laws. Also, any straight-up bar-club with lots of patrons. Almost always has a detail-cop, that’s the surefire way to keep it somewhat civilized. Obviously they don’t want a cop inside, not only for the added expense. Get your act together and be responsible for your actions !

Mambo is the bestest thing that has happened to Worcester, ever, the scumbag owner says so! He claims that his high cover charges show that he cares about his clientele. No, it shows he cares about his wallet. The Wycked Java owner is just being PC and who can blame him. He doesn’t want his windows smashed every fucking night.

Mambo has a zero-tolerance policy for fighting, inside, outside he doesn’t give a shit. If his property were being damaged then he would care and five security guards proves it. Any trouble and they get thrown out, only to start a riot on Water St. As for the strict dress code policy, looking at the video of the previous riot, I would say Worcester Common has a stricter dress code policy, which means there isn’t one.

Am I the only one that thinks Melvin Santana is a hottie? And he’s a business owner! Having said that, he needs to invest his money somewhere like CT, RI, or how about New York! Because what he has going on, and in that location, will never work.

I do not think mambo drink is the problem! the entire worcester city is full of drug addicts and white trash. Worcester city hall and worcester police are probably doing something wrong.

As I said in an earlier comment, any establishment that has escalating street violence should have its liquor license revoked. End of discussion.

The other business owners are jealous of the latino’s? Sorry Mr Santana,I’m not buying that.
When you get shut down,I know a city councilor who owns a church that could double as a club. In the winter you will need to shovel your own sidewalk though.

      NETAS – La Associacion Ñetas

The Neta, formally known as “La Associacion Ñetas” was founded in 1970 by offender Carlos Torres-Irriarte in the Oso Blanco Prison in Puerto Rico. Irriarte, who liked to think of himself as a “political prisoner” formed La Neta to revolt against the prison administration of Puerto Rico. The ruthless gang was responsible for causing over 50 deaths in several Puerto Rico prison riots. The organization’s founding father mandated that its members never use or deal narcotics but as the organization spread into New York and other parts of the eastern United States, the gang began to overlook the rules.

Should seriously make a wager right now on the first person getting killed around Water Street. What do you think? 3 months? 3 weeks? 3 days? Sadly it won’t be until then will the city take this problem area seriously.

If the man on the right is indeed straight, he needs to re-evaluate his choices in clothing. One more button undone and he’s pretty much homosexual, hairy man nipples exposed and all. The only thing he’s missing is a bead necklace.
