This was back in like 1992/1993 but my cousin unexpectedly got pregnant I think when she was like 21-22 and the father wasn’t around. So she went on welfare while she went to community college to get a degree in CS. After two years and getting her degree, she got an entry level job in the tech field. Got off welfare, bought a small house a while later, and raised her daughter.
That’s how welfare should work. It should be a safety net, much like unemployment, although your employer pays into unemployment. You’re not supposed to live on it.
