The Atlantic: Although he’s almost a decade shy of the voting age, Micah St. George has a message he’s anxious to deliver to the Republican National Committee: Please don’t nominate Donald Trump for president.
A soon-to-be fourth grader in Newton, Massachusetts, Micah is the co-founder of Kids Against Trump, a group that started with a paper petition passed around the playground at Angier Elementary, a K-6 school in a bucolic suburb just west of Boston.
The idea for the petition started in February after some of Trump’s speeches. The candidate’s words troubled Micah on two levels. First of all, there were Trump’s disparaging comments about women, Muslims, and immigrants. Micah was adopted from Guatemala as an infant, and he has two moms. So it felt to Micah like Trump was attacking his family and friends.
But another thought stuck with Micah: I can understand everything he’s saying.
“He’s talking on my level—I’m 9 years old, ” Micah says. “That’s not okay.”
Micah’s friend and classmate Alexis Fridman—who started the original recess petition with him and is the other co-founder of Kids Against Trump—put it another way: “If I talked like Donald Trump, I’d get sent to the principal’s office immediately.”
Researchers say a key indicator of kids’ civic engagement is whether their own parents take part in related activities. And Micah’s home life certainly influences his political awareness: His mother, Shivonne St. George, teaches social studies at a middle school in a neighboring town. She and her partner, Erika Schluntz, talk regularly with their son about current events. But the idea for the petition originated with Micah and Alexis, their parents say.
It’s hilarious that they’re trying to pretend that these kids started this petition. They “talk regularly” to their son about current events. Translation – they brainwash him to subscribe to their social justice warrior agenda. Does anyone actually believe that these two children came up with this on their own? They’re nine years old. Nine year olds don’t post stuff like this on their Facebook page:
Nine year olds don’t know who George Will is. I’m in my 30’s and I can barely read an entire George Will column. Nine year olds don’t go on Politico. Seriously, check out their Facebook page. It’s the basic rantings and ravings of a diehard Hillary supporter. We all see what happened here right? Mom and Mom didn’t want to clutter their own Facebook pages with political crap. They didn’t want to become “that guy” on your Facebook roster with the spam. So they used their adorable 9 year old Guatemalan boy as a human shield. Works out pretty well because everyone knows that Trump hates Guatemalans. He doesn’t hate lesbians though, so it wouldn’t make as much sense if they posted about it.
This was all obviously one big scam, right out of the clockboy playbook. Make your kid an “activist,” get national attention, get invited to the White House, and get that free scholarship. That’s Activist Parent 101 right there. And if you look at Mom and Mom’s Facebook pages, you can clearly see that this is standard behavior from them. They don’t post much, but when they do, it’s usually about the evils of plastic bags:
The election of Scott Brown:
Or they’re sharing their “kid’s” Change.org petition, that they totally had nothing to do with:
Just another example of activist parents using their kids as a pawn in their selfish game of social justice warrior world domination. It worked for the Greenfield Dad’s, so why not give it a shot if you’re the Newton Mom’s?
P.S. I know this is a little off topic, but when two lesbians get married and have a child, how do you decide what the last name of the child is gonna be? Genuinely curious because I have no idea. Seems to me flipping a coin is the only fair way.
