So the cop from the South Carolina high school video was fired today. The teacher, principal, and students in the class all said they had no problem with the way it was handled. But we’re living in a world where naniburgers find it easier to give into the PC police than do what’s right.

I will make this one critique about the way the situation was handled – the classroom should’ve been temporarily evacuated by students and staff after it was clear the girl would not stand up. The girl was on stage and clearly wanted to put on a show. They should’ve taken that away from her. It also would’ve guaranteed that the incident would not be taped. That’s on the school for not having a better procedure for incidents like that.

Let’s watch it again from two different angles:

It seems like people are saying that the cop didn’t have to be THAT rough with her. Maybe so. I have no idea what police protocol is because I’m not a cop nor am I an expert, unlike 99% of the people commenting on the Internet. If he didn’t follow protocol then he should be punished accordingly.

But if this was how cops are taught to apprehend someone who is resisting arrest, then there’s nothing wrong with it, no matter how shocking it was. Look, this is what cops deal with on a daily basis. Not everyone who gets arrested complies, and when they don’t comply, ugly things happen. Don’t want ugly things to happen? Then comply.

It’s the shock value that’s really set reasonable people off. And LOTS of reasonable people have an issue with the way this was handled. Because the video is definitely shocking. But like I said, it’s the job. If I went and watched a doctor perform a C-Section I would imagine I’d have a similar reaction. Because sometimes people have jobs that require them to do things that aren’t pretty.

But here’s a question I have yet to receive a REAL answer to – how was he supposed to get the girl out of there? Here’s some responses I’ve seen:

Hold class, dismiss class, sit down w/student, explain consequences, *call parents*, work as a team.

OK. And what happens when that doesn’t work? How long do we give her to do the right thing? This is not an answer. It’s an imaginary world where a bratty kid suddenly sees the light. People who think this would work aren’t living in reality.

And here’s the bigger problem with this “answer” –  the world has to revolve around assholes. Don’t wanna listen to the teacher? Don’t wanna listen to the principal? Don’t wanna listen to the cops? That’s OK, we’ll work around your insubordination and come up with an alternative plan. Do you honestly think this kid didn’t know what the consequences were? She’s a senior in high school. She’s 18. She knew and she didn’t give a shit. Because clearly rules don’t apply to her.

Meanwhile, what about everyone else? Fuck them right? They don’t have a right to learn because we have to worry bout the feelings of the only kid in class who isn’t following the rules.

Here’s another “solution”:

So leave her in the chair, teach class, have family in school ready to take her home. Her choice.

Oh, you mean let her have her way. Yea, that’ll show her. Because when your kid gets caught having a cookie before dinner, you just let them keep eating cookies. That’s the logic we’re dealing with here. Rules are optional. If you want to disrupt the class and disrespect the teacher, go for it. We’ll just call up your parent, who OBVIOUSLY will answer the phone and come RIGHT down to school, and they’ll take you home after that.

Then there was this one:

There are ways to talk to a child quietly to get them to cooperate. Someone should have the skill to negotiate.

No. Just no. I’m sorry, we don’t pay teachers and principals to be Goddamn negotiators. We pay them to teach. That’s it.

Some people have suggested that he just pick the desk up and bring it outside the classroom. First of all, that obviously wouldn’t work because to even gain any leverage he would’ve had to make physical contact with her. The second he initiated contact she started flailing her arms and legs. Obviously that wouldn’t work. On top of that the girl was being placed under arrest, so eventually she would’ve had to have been physically taken out of that chair.

There’s just no way possible that this incident could not have gotten physical. The girl had a choice to make – get up and go peacefully, or stand your ground and see what happens. She chose the latter. But make no mistake about it – it was her choice.

See the major overriding problem here is that all these people look at this situation and think of ways that the cop could’ve better handled it. Once again, we see a kid not following the rules, and our first reaction is supposed to be, “what would we do differently next time?” What we should be asking is, “what could the student do differently next time?”

Look, I realize this video was hard to look at, but the fact of the matter is she disrupted class and was given tons of chances to leave. She refused. This isn’t some minor problem. This happens all over America and we’re letting it happen. Your kids are having their education stolen from them by other kids who don’t think rules apply to them. She needed to be removed and that took force. When the cop goes to pick her up she puts her arm around him and kicks her leg up:

Screen Shot 2015-10-28 at 2.44.02 PM

Anyone with a simple understanding of physics could tell you that this would cause the desk to flip backwards.

Screen Shot 2015-10-28 at 2.44.13 PM

Then he had to get the girl out of the desk and arrest her. He wasn’t gentle when he did so, but it’s not the job of the police to be gentle.

Some people have asked, “Hey Turtleboy, what if this were your kid.” My answer to that is simple – I’d be humiliated and embarrassed that I raised such a pukey asswipe of a kid. It would mean that I completely failed as a parent because I didn’t get the message across to my 18 year old kid that it’s not OK to disobey teachers, principals, and cops. And make no doubt about it, if this had happened to me as a student, my parents would’ve sided with the cop. I would’ve been driven down to the police station and forced to apologize to everyone for being a sniveling little asshole. And they would’ve been right to do so.

So the bottom line is, until you can come up with a scenario that involves getting this girl out of class without using physical force, then you don’t really offer any solutions.

Yeah Bea I am sure she would have just let the chair be dragged out the door,,,Are people really serious when they come up with these dopey arm chair quarterback idea’s ??

Look that cop made her bang her head on the door by dragging the chair out of the room!!..Look he broke her leg when she tried to stop the chair from going out!!…Yup way to complicated for the little princess to put her phone away and stand up when the officer asked…Lets just keep coming up with better coddling idea’s for spoiled little pukes

No one? Don’t speak for all. They could have pushed/dragged the desk out of the class room and then tried to talk to her before throwing her around.

Plenty of alternatives have been discussed, just not by MSM. I remember plenty of instances in school where children were being more than just bratty and the situation was handled without desks being flipped. Why are we asking “What else was he supposed to do?” – am I the only one who went to school here or did we all forget the years and years of schooling where we didnt see such agressiveness? Stop blaming the kid, as dumb as she may be, school the school authorities failed. This won’t be the first time some kid acts up and refuses to leave her/his desk and it won’t be the last.

Nanny, there is no such thing as logical thought on this blog as I have seen thus far.

I have asserted many points here that no one refutes with fact, but with fallacious arguments and skewed misinformation and perceptions.

All objectivity in this world has gone out the window. No one can be impartial anymore when given two conflicting sets of arguments and information, they will simply revert to mentally blocking via cognitive dissonance.

As the great logician Anthony Colpo has said “Being told what we have already decided to believe is comforting and non-disruptive; receiving new information that contradicts what we have already decided to believe can be highly unsettling and discomforting to many people. They simply don’t have the intellectual capacity and internal fortitude to carefully and impartially re-examine their closely held beliefs. Instead, they shut out any information that doesn’t gel with what they already believe, and vigorously denounce any person or party that has the temerity to present such conflicting information.”

Unfortunate you say that, as there have been times I have agreed with TB because he makes sense completely, and other times where it is not so.

It seems we are to encourage blind agreement and sheep-like behavior, and revile impartial critical thought. That is just as bad as the ridiculous behavior of the people TB berates.

Its why I stopped being a “turtle rider”. When I started reading the site (which was right around busgate), I loved the fresh perspective. I might not have agreed with everything, but I was happy another side of the story was being put out there for people to look at. Then the stories started to look less like an informational piece and more like a tabloid. “Facts” weren’t facts anymore, they were over-embellished half-truths and sometimes flat out misleading assumptions. Worst part is as soon as TB puts it on paper, all the riders start preaching it as truth. TB could say the sky is green and before you know it its all “the sky is green and if you don’t see it, its because the Petty Machine ruined the skyline by painting it blue! Vote Gaffney!”

As a parent I would not want my 16 or 18 year old daughter handled like that by a grown man – cop or not, but on the other hand if my daughter pulled that shit in school, I would kick her ass myself! Sadly this cop lost his job, if he is the arrogant prick he “appears” to be, then he deserved to have his ass handed to him but if that is how they are trained and her little temper tantrum helped the desk fall over and add dramatics to the video than I feel for the guy. Yes the video looks damning but not everything is always as it seems and her little attitude brought this all on. Having security cameras for safety sake is great but has it drawbacks as well. We are going to hit a point where police will stop doing their job in fear of being railroaded by a “viral video” .

There are rules in both school and society that all are expected to follow. This girl didn’t just flaunt her disrespect in ‘crossing the line,’ she literally ran across it. I was taught very early in life when corporal punishment was in fashion, that you got your azz kicked if you broke the rules whether in or out of school. Today’s advocates of PC are reaping what they’ve sowed. Everyone is ‘special ‘and the rules don’t apply. Well, negotiation or calling Mom were not options. She learned a quick lesson, one that’s normally not taught in school. When authority figures tell you to do something reasonable, there are consequences to your response. She earned

Civil disobedience at its finest…Little princess was taught that you do not have to listen to anyone even a cop..How many times have we watched what happens when you do not listen to a lawful command play out in the last few years? I have had plenty of interactions with police in my life..Not once was I shot, tazed or beaten…Was it because I am white or because I followed the officers orders..My friends of various races at the time also fared just as well as I did with police interactions in our youth because we did not feel the world would clap for us acting like an asshole to a Police officer like the kids do today.

lets stop class today for the little princess…and stop it tomorrow for a different one and so on…We can just call mommy everyday for all of these kids and hope they show up to get them under control for the sake of the few kids who actually want to learn..Because god forbid you touch one ever liberal douche will cry foul and all the people on the Government dole with nothing else to do will riot loot and march!

What a great country we have turned into..Police are seen as evil and punks are internet hero’s

Let’s stop calling this 18 year old a kid. 18 you are an adult. How many more fucking years do we need in this fucking pc world to grow up in? When I was 18(I’m now 44) I was probably a little shit but I was also in Saudi Arabia getting fucking shot at and shooting at “men” who were younger than I!!!! I’ll tell you turtleboy, mandatory service is a must. Another thing, apparently I’m so closed off from the rest of the world that just recently I learned my home town has a cop in its schools. First of all… The misinformation in this article is exhausting. #1 The girl was 16 years old so all the dumbasses that claim that because she is an adult she somehow deserves this type of treatment are just wrong. #2 no one deserves to be physically assaulted because they aren’t doing what someone asks them to do with THEY’RE OWN PROPERTY. Was she a little bratty… Yes. Probably. But let’s get to #3 HER MOTHER RECENTLY DIED and she has been placed into foster care!! A 16 year old CHILD, recently orphaned, that just decided “I’m not going to get off of my phone”, didn’t pose a physical threat, deserves to be tossed like a rag doll because what?? Because like the dumb ass gentleman a little further up suggested… This is the way “animals” should be treated. You assholes don’t really think it was handled properly… You just have such a twisted, biased, fucked up racist view of blacks… that anything goes when it comes to us. And that’s cool. There can’t be intelligence without ignorance so you hick fuckers keep the world turning

#1 it dont matter if you’re 16 or 18, you still have the ability to be arrested for causing a disturbance
#2 there are rules against the use of cell phones in schools, and yes, when an authority figure enforces those rules, you are to follow them or face the consequences, and when you defy that authority figure and flail your body around violently, those consequences likely include you landing on your ass
#3 everyone in that class has lost someone close to them, and somehow they didn’t hinder the education of 25 of their peers.

      • October 28, 2015 at 11:47 pm

Didn’t know she owned the school, act like an animal the zookeepers must respond several other children in the class the officer was right in protecting the innocent not the guilty. You people with your white/black bullshit tell the gangs who wear red, blue, gold, yellow etc.to put down the crayons down. She’s the reason the desk slammed backwards. The cop puts his arms around her and she half-way stands up and then kicks and flails, and the desk falls back with no effort from the cop. You even see his eyes light up like, “o shit.” He does drag her pretty robustly after that, but her actions already established that force was going to be necessary. How else was he going to get a 200 lb animal, content on being dead weight(literally and figuratively) out of that classroom? That girl is trash, raised by trash, and god help any one who comes into contact with her future super trash children. Whats the over/under on the number of illegitimate welfare babies she has in the next 5 years? I think 2.5 is a pretty solid number, but I’m betting the over. This waste of space is the reason why China is winning, they would take her out and have her fed to zoo animals, while we’ll invite her to the White House.

As TB suggests, evacuate the other kids. Get parents involved. If they can’t get involved, get DCF, the city lawyer, etc involved. Her situation is hopeless anyway. No need for force. YMMV.

      • RJ
        October 28, 2015 at 4:50 pm

The problem is that if you “evacuate the class”, now you’re taking time away from all those other kids who might actually want to get an education and not only did they do nothing to deserve that, there’s a whole lot more of them so every minute she wastes is one minute multiplied by the number of kids in the class. The second someone decides to become a problem, we need to stop worrying about trying to resolve the situation to their benefit and start worrying about trying to resolve the situation to the benefit of everybody else.
