So here’s a quick rundown of the story.
- Davidian Family farms has been in Northboro for almost 100 years. Since then more and more homes have been built near it.
- The Department of Agricultural Resources put in some regulations that were intended to protect the environment from big businesses dumping their waste by forcing them to turn it into compost.
- The Davidian farm takes this compost and uses it to enrich the soil they grow fruits and vegetables that they sell, and consequently the farm has a long growing season and doesn’t have to use large amounts of chemical fertilizers and pesticides.
- As a result the farm has these gigantic piles of shit, neighbors are complaining about the potential contamination of well water, the smell, flies, birds, noise, traffic, sinking property value, headaches, pediatric asthma, and overall nastiness that is associated with gigantic piles of shit.
- State Senator Harriet Chandler is basically siding with the neighbors and wants to put forward a bill that would put a different agency (DEP) in charge of regulating composting farms like Davidian.
- If the DEP was in charge of regulation is would allow local towns to decide whether or not farms can do what Davidian is currently doing. But as we’ve seen with stuff like casinos and marijuana, towns will almost definitely vote NOT to allow this practice to continue.
So let’s be perfectly clear here – we’re siding with the farm. Why? They were there first. If you choose to move into a home that’s near a farm, you don’t get to complain about nasty smells. Take a trip to the town of Hadley sometime. The entire town is insanely busy Route 9, and a bunch of farms. The second you leave Route 9 all you can smell is shit. I’ve never smelt a smellier town than Hadley. And because of that I would never choose to buy a home in Hadley. When you buy a home, these are the kind of things you’re supposed to take into account. Don’t wanna smell cow shit? Don’t move next to a farm. Problem solved.
And OF COURSE Harriet Chandler is on the wrong side of this. She’s a million years old and borderline senile.
She was one of 20 State Senators who voted against funding bulletproof vests for police officers, on the day in which Ron Tarentino’s wake was held.

But she had no problem making an appearance for the cameras at the funeral.
This is a woman who knows jackshit about farming. She’s just here to appease a bunch of whiny people who chose to live next to a family farm and don’t like the consequences of their decision. This is why Massachusetts can’t have nice things. Because people like Harriette Chandler represent us.
The bottom line is that everyone pretends to care about the environment, unless the environment is being protected in their backyards. It’s the same reason our state voted to have casinos 8 years ago, but every time a town has a vote on whether or not to allow a casino, they always vote No. Because people want all this magical shit to happen, they just don’t want their lives to be inconvenienced by it in the least.

i love davidian bros farm!!! they have an attached store with tons of produce, local honey and syrup, and homemade jelly, etc. And a deli with an icecream window in the summer. soooo good. one of those places i get excited to have a few extra mins to stop in

If you’re going to live near a working farm, you’re going to at some point, smell shit.. It’s also called composting .. It’s a sustainable organic way to raise plants and veggies , like people who’ve been raising organically grown food ,with no gmo’s for thousands of years . When the wind blows a certain direction , you’re probably going to get a good whiff of shit.. And if it doesnt smell 95% of the time, why are you bitching ?
If Davidians has been there forever, and the homeowners knew this before they bought their houses and considered the neighbourhoid, why did they buy? Did they think an established business that’s been there forever, was going to close up because of the snooty neighbours that moved nearby, and didn’t want to smell shit wafting in the breeze ?
It’s the buyers problem , not Davidians ..
So , to the buyers, most of you people probably only buy organic veggies and fruits already.
Guess what, those veggies were grown and nurtured with compost , and it’s made of shit and other decomposing organic matter. You could become a part of a compost pile too, because we too are just organic matter when we die .
too. That’s how they the produce,stays organic and aren’t sprayed with pesticides.

So remember that when next time you go to the farmers market next summer or buy organic all year round, somebody else too had to smell shit too along the way.
To the organic growers it’s money in their pockets but to you snooty folks it’s a shit smell. You don’t have a lot of choice here, smell compost and have healthy veggies, or move
This is all because the Fucking Yuppies want to build their “Dream Homes” in a nice Rural setting. There is only so much open land. People want to conserve open space, yet want their Mc Mansion. They want to recycle, eat organic and go green… But they don’t want to smell compost/ Shit! My family has had to deal with this sort of thing for years. My family has owned a Farm for 90 years. And before THAT, it was Farmland. We would like to keep it as open space in the future also. How can a Society ever survive if it becomes all City/ Suburbia?… It cannot.
These are the same people who shop at Whole Foods and actually believe that the food there is different. hopefully the town will stand up for this business that has been there forever and tell these people to suck organic eggs

Fear not citizens, I have come up with the perfect solution. Once Sarai’s old church is torn down the land will be used as a city funded composting site. Effectively, nothing will change about the property because it’s already a piece of shit. It may actually improve surrounding land value because of the reduced fire hazard. The good citizens of Northboro will have me to thank and I can go back to sleeping soundly at night knowing that once again, our streets are safe.
Let me get this right, local farm is practicing responsible, sustainable and environmentally friendly farming but liberals have their panties in a wad because they moved next to that farm and expected it to smell like a bed of roses? Tough shit, get used to the smell or move!
On a secondary note, its time for the good people in Worcester to put Harriet Chandler out to pasture. Thank you again for reminding me why I moved out of Massachusetts!
No matter how many reasons they give”Environment, Public Safety, the children” etc. it always comes down to noe. Property value. They all want to say they live in a million dollar home in the Shire.. how long have these people been living there?
If she drove to Northboro it must have taken her a day. Had to follow driving her Lexus with Senate 2 plates and her and she did not go over 20 MPH on Gold Star Blvd. She hogged 2 lanes and had a parade of 10 cars behind her on Saturday night at 6:30PM. At first I thought the car was driving itself. Could not even see her. Someone give her a bunch of phone books too sit on so she can see over the dashboard.
I can’t believe Harriette still keeps getting re-elected! That’s what the McGovern Crime Family does.
