NBC 10Providence Public Schools announced Wednesday that it placed an assistant principal on administrative leave after the administrator got into a physical altercation with a student at Central High School. Video circulating on social media shows Assistant Principal Thomas Bacon pinning 15-year-old Amare Pemberton to the floor. “He didn’t have a valid reason to tackle me,” Amare told NBC 10 News, noting that at one point he was having trouble breathing. “And that’s when I say, ‘I can’t breathe. I can’t breathe.’ That’s when he stopped me and say, ‘Shut up.’” Amare told NBC 10 that he struggled to get out from underneath Bacon, who weighs much more than Amare’s 100-pound frame.

“That’s when he was kneeing me and everyone saying, ‘Stop it,’” he said of the video, also saying that Bacon choked him.

Someone in the video is heard yelling, “Tell him to get off! Tell him to get off!” Amare’s mother said her son has epilepsy, adding that he could have had a seizure during the altercation. She said she is angry about the incident. “I just feel mad,” she said. “It happened just over a stupid reason.”

Ranado McKay, a junior at the school, told NBC 10 that the situation happened “out of nowhere.” “We were at lunch and he came out and I just (saw) him on the floor. Like, I heard a bang and he was on the floor,” McKay said.

The student’s brother, Ka-Ron Pemberton, didn’t see firsthand what happened but couldn’t believe what was captured on video. “That actually got me mad for the simple fact that a grown man is putting his hands on my younger brother for no reason,” Ka-Ron said.

The school district did not say what led up to the altercation. A statement from the school district said the incident happened Monday in the cafeteria, with a spokeswoman noting that the district was “alarmed and dismayed” by what happened.

“Additionally, the school district has explicitly requested that police investigate the incident in its entirety,” the statement said.

But several students told NBC 10 they know what led up to the confrontation. “The reason why was like a lunch lady caught Amare going through the line just to get a milk,” Ka-Ron said. “She called Mr. Bacon over and then he got physical after Amare turned to walk away.”

Amare Pemberton was charged with two counts of simple assault. Providence police did not offer an explanation why. Amare also claimed he got in trouble for trying to cut the line. He said he tried to walk away when Bacon approached him.

“Everybody thinks I started it,” Amare said. “He kept trying to grab my arm. I said, “Let go. Let go.’

That’s when he tackled Me. he said I dropped my bag and held up my fist. But clearly in the video, my bag is on my back still.

Students describe Amare as a small guy, a sophomore, who stays out of trouble.

“It’s not like he’s an average-sized student. He’s little for his age,” McKay said.

    Other students shared similar sentiments.

“Yeah, he’s really small and how he put him on the ground — it wasn’t right,” Jalen Fife, a junior. said.

Oh look, a video with no context illegally shot by a student after the actions of the student that led up to this were not filmed. Shocking.

First of all, there’s nothing wrong with what I witnessed in that video if the kid was out of control. He was being restrained by an adult and kept trying to flail his arms and squirm away. He obviously did something wrong to merit it because why would a vice principal just manhandle a kid like that for no reason?

Secondly, kids in inner city schools are out of control. That’s just a fact. They have no respect for authority and they think they can do whatever they want. And why are they like this? Well, this is Amare Pemberton’s mother:

Need I say more? Lots of normal Moms get professional plus sized pictures taken of themselves like they’re going to the prom.

The media ate that shit up though:

After that the school put him on leave and politicians started demanding he be fired. The backstory didn’t matter. All they saw was a black kid being restrained by a white principal and their minds were made up. It was good politics to go after the principal, who has since been forced to resign.

Meanwhile Mom is manning the comment section, whining about her son’s epilepsy:

Oh look, one sentence. Never saw that one coming.

Hey lady, your son sure did talk a lot in that video for a kid who couldn’t breathe. And I’m glad to see that his epilepsy didn’t stop him from cutting the line and stealing milk. Because I’m sure that’s all he did too.

Of course all you really need to see is this:

Amare also claimed he got in trouble for trying to cut the line. He said he tried to walk away when Bacon approached him.

“Everybody thinks I started it,” Amare said. “He kept trying to grab my arm. I said, “Let go. Let go.’

He tried to walk away when the principal approached him. When the principal tried to grab his arm he admittedly said, “let go,” because adults mean nothing to him. Ya know who does that? Someone who’s raised by a wooly hammoth who pays for profesionally done pictures of herself sitting directly behind her oversized tube TV.

She’s obviously never held her son accountable for anything and as a result rules don’t apply to him. And when he gets in trouble in school she sides with her son, blames the adults, and runs to the media. This is why places like Providence are such shitholes. Because ratchet Moms raise ratchet kids.

this video is basically the kid being sung a lullaby compared to the other video from the opposite direction showing the kid being treated way more intensely than cops treat criminals who just committed violent crime

i don’t blame the guy for snapping and going off I’m sure it’s shite working there

I wanted to say something funny and point out how big she is but Idk I kinda feel bad. I bet this woman has had a hard life, and is probably super lonely. So she is taking “glamour ” pics of herself? At least she isn’t pretending to be someone she is not. I have been Catfished 3 different times on dating sites. Or you get the big girl that only has pics with camera over her head. Then of course you get the Beauty Plus pics where girls can take a selfie and erase the 3rd chin. I’m not mad at her for trying to look good. I am mad at her for raising a lil shithead of a son but it’s a son she has custody over at least. That Webster lady with daughter that had her head shaved. She called the news about a kid that wasn’t her responsibility anymore so I’m going to play devil’s advocate on this one and give Queen Laqueefa a pass.

I remember being tackled by a certain 350+lb former patriots player turned teacher at good ole south high back in the day. Me and some idiot were punching each other in the face over god knows what when BOOM! Guy hit us both like a truck and was big enough to smother us both, he didnt move till enough teachers came to be able to help him up. Didnt breathe that whole time, and was pissed but never messed around on his floor again because i had LEARNED a lesson. Regardless of how my young dumb ass felt at the time the guy did the right thing period. The big difference now is my parents would have thanked that man and slapped me for cryin about it.

Been there left a good paying job in Providence schools because it is unsafe! Parents only show up when your raffling a big screen tv or if this happens and they can cash in . The schools let the kids behave this way ! Teachers and Principals will hang if they do anything about it ! Guns in the middle schools / oh wait that has never been on the news – I don’t even think the police were called ! Lovely capital city

Listen, I’m all for little criminals in training getting the justice they deserve and all, but if the principal of my kid’s school put their hands on them for ANY reason I’d beat the shit out of them. That’s what the cops are for.

Rhode Island Schools are nothing but breading grounds for future criminals. I have a solution, SHUT THEM DOWN! No more Schools no more problems. It’s a fact that children who are home schooled do better later in life anyways.

Also if this mom was busy designing and teaching a curriculum for her children she would be very busy during the day and become healthier and it would make her less angry. 🙂
