Providence Superintendent Calls His Teachers And Principals Racist For Suspending Students Of Color Who Throw Desks And Tell Teachers To Go Fuck Themselves

Loading...

ProvidenceThe outgoing superintendent of Providence Public Schools said racism was to blame for an imbalance in which students are being suspended from school when they misbehave. The comments by Superintendent Chris Maher came at the first joint meeting of the Providence School Board and Providence City Council Wednesday night. The school department presented recent out-of-school suspension data to the officials and discussed efforts to further decrease the number of suspensions.

Oh for fuck’s sake, here we go again.

The data, presented by Dr. Marco Andrade from the school department, showed 24.5% of male students suspended this year were black, while black males make up just 15.9% of the total student population. Similarly, 25.2% of female students suspended this year have been black, while only 16.5% of the total female population is black. Andrade said black, multiracial and Native American students are disproportionately suspended from school, while Asian, Southeast Asian, Pacific Islander, Hispanic and white students are not disproportionately suspended.

“I think it’s racism,” Maher said when asked by Councilman Luis Aponte about the reason behind the racial disparities. “I don’t know of another good reason we could give of why African American students are disproportionately suspended.”

Gee whiz, he can’t figure out any reason except for racism that African-American students are disproportionately suspended. Obviously it’s not socioeconomic issues or cycles of poverty that lead to a disproportionate amount of students of color who break rules that lead to being suspended. That doesn’t make any sense at all. It simply must be racism, and it doesn’t matter if shitstain McGee has no evidence to back that up. He’s going to have his woke moment and you’re going to sit there and like it.

If cowards like this had any balls they’d just come out and say it – the teachers and principals in Providence are racist shitheads. Because he’s saying that without saying that. If racism is the only reason black kids get suspended, then obviously the people doing the suspending are racist. This piece of shit is spitting in the faces of teachers and principals, all of who make significantly less money than him, and whose jobs are significantly harder than his.

The school district has been working for years to decrease its out-of-school suspension rates in order to keep students in school and learning. The data presented Wednesday showed progress in that area, with a 45% decrease in suspensions from April 2015 to April 2019. A total of 1,791 students have been suspended out of school from the beginning of this school year through April.

“We have a lot of work to do in this area,” Maher acknowledged, saying progress has been made but describing it as “inadequate and incomplete.”

Why the hell are they trying to keep kids in school who break rules? Why is that a goal of any school? Imagine your job worked like that. “Yea, this mother fucker keeps stealing from the register, but we gotta keep him at work though because if we don’t he’ll just join gangs and sell drugs.”

In particular, the school district is trying to decrease suspensions for minor infractions like insubordination and disorderly conduct. A 2016 statewide law, which Maher said the school district supported, called on out-of-school suspensions to be reserved for the worst behaviors, such as threats or behavior that substantially interferes with the ability of other students to learn.

How are insubordination and disorderly conduct not worthy of suspension? When a kid tells a teacher to go fuck themselves, which I’m willing to bet happens frequently in a shithole like Providence, why wouldn’t you suspend them? If they throw a chair, which qualifies as disorderly conduct, why shouldn’t they be suspended? Does that “substantially interfere with the ability of other students to learn?”

Nah, fuck the kids that want to learn. The only kids who matter are the lugnuts from shitty homes who were never held responsible for their behavior. It should be the school’s priority to keep them in school so they can disrupt the learning of others and this moron can feel good about himself. Makes sense.

The City Council and School Board also received a presentation by a group of students in Young Voices, a nonprofit organization for urban youth. The students presented research compiled over nearly two years, entitled “Girls of Color Addressing Disparities in Providence Schools.”

OF COURSE there’s a bunch of “urban youth” being indoctrinated by a “nonprofit” that likely exists to provide jobs for unemployable boobs so they can conduct diversity training seminars. This is what they love to do – brainwash kids who fight their battles for them. Next thing they’ll be demanding sensitivity training, and one of the people who runs the non-profit is gonna cash a big fat check in order to do so.

The report was compiled using data from the school department, the R.I. Department of Education, R.I. Kids Count and surveys with students conducted by Young Voices. The students said they found issues with discipline, favoritism, and a lack of cultural sensitivity from some teachers.

In particular, the group said they wanted a more “caring environment” at school, with teachers more compassionate to students issues like “poverty, transportation, violence and child care.” They pointed to surveys conducted by the state that showed, for example, only 25% of students at Classical High School felt their teachers were concerned when they walked into class upset.

Wait….teachers are supposed to be more compassionate about child care??? Da fuq? Like you’re a teen mom and your math teacher is supposed to hook you up with free daycare? Since when does anyone give two shits about the lack of “cultural sensitivity” that a bunch of snot nosed teenagers feel they get from their teachers? It’s not your teacher’s job to be “concerned” if you come to class upset because you brought emotional baggage to school with you. They’re there to teach you to read, write, and do math. If you want a shrink then go see one. No one gives a shit about your feelings.

“We are tired of being constantly asked to complete surveys with nothing being done,” said Adriana Rodriguez-Soto, a sophomore at Classical.

“I don’t feel like I’m listened to,” said Melanie Nunez, also a Classical sophomore.

You’re not supposed to be listened to. The teacher is supposed to be listened to and you do the listening. The mere fact that these grundle goblins feel so entitled tells me that a bunch of adults put them up to this.

The report quoted students who said they thought gender and race factored into their treatment from teachers. “I think discipline in my school is biased because some students get away with things while others don’t,” one student said.

Well then, if one random student in a survey arbitrarily feels like white kids get away with stuff that students of color don’t, without providing any evidence to back up his claim, this is definitely someone whose opinion should be taken seriously.

Asked after the meeting what she thought of Maher’s assessment that racism contributed to out-of-school suspensions, Nunez said she was “1,000% sure” it was true.

Nkolika Onye, the school department’s executive director of student supports, said there are trainings planned in “restorative practices,” which focus on helping students with the root of the negative behaviors and not just on discipline and rules broken. Maher also said staff members are receiving racial bias training.

Restorative practices is codeword for “kids who tell their English teacher to fuck off get to play with crayons and talk about their feelings instead of getting suspended.”

This is the kind of shitty superintendent the activist groups in Worcester wanted the last few months. Someone who panders to an angry crowd instead of standing up for the teachers under his employ.

As a teacher, we’re not social workers or therapists, we teach, we guide, we model, we care. But don’t ask me to parent and not be able to discipline.

I feel really bad for that poor student that has to keep filling out surveys. It must be hard to do well in such a rayciss situation. My solution, suspend anyone who is disruptive regardless of color to gender. Wanna improve public ed? Get rid of the troublemakers that make it impossible for the good kids to learn. And while we’re at it, the bad teachers gotta go too, there are plenty of em. Glad my son has one more year of H S, if I was having kids now, it would be private schools no matter the cost. Love how it always someone else’s fault, look in the mirror animals, it’s your culture, or lack of it, that sends these kids to school unprepared to learn. That’s ok blame everyone else for your shitty parenting and kids.

    Just putting this out there.

If it’s not racist to say that black people are better at pop music, boxing, athletics and all forms of sportball, why would it be racist to suggest that white people or Asians might be better at chess, science, medicine, literature, classical music and art?

    Aaaaaaaaaand………..go!!

Simple answer: educate the low class ratchet single parents and multi father families as to how to raise their mistakes…. Oh wait, THAT won’t work. After strike 3, just kick em out of school. It’s not like the street rats are learning anyways, it’s just a daycare for the ratchet parents to send their sperm seeds to.

Actually, you made a good point. I’ve always said that school should prepare you for life instead of simply preparing you for college. Classes in money management, shop/home economics, and even classes in manners and decency would make a huge impact. It’s amazing how many people do not know to handle money. Then they wonder why they are always broke. You have men that don’t know how to hold a hammer, and women who would burn water if you asked them to make something. Then you have those who don’t know how to function in a civilized society and who eat like pigs because they don’t know how to hold a fork. Some people are so stupid that they can’t even take out the trash, which is why many residences become public health hazards.

The best way to improve our schools and the quality of the education that young people are receiving is to remove those individuals who are disruptive and who try to prevent others from learning in a safe and secure environment. Now, there are those who will ask what we should do with the ones we remove from the schools. The answer is very simple — JAIL! We need people to take up residence in our prisons, because without them, prisons would close and those employed in the criminal justice system would lose their jobs.

Okay so the point of minimizing suspension rates is to make sure students are in the school to learn. Where is the research that shows the improved stats for the school since all these kids are spending more time in school than when they were getting suspended? Where are the stats that back up this being a good idea? I bet stats went down because shitty kids distract kids that care to learn. My nephew is 7 years old and his ass got sent home from school today for his behavior. Know what he did? Sat his ass in his room for the duration of school hours while the rest of his class got to learn without being disrupted by my ill-raised nephew.

An 80 percent illegitimacy rate in the black community may be the reason but fuck facts.
Decade after decade after decade black and brown criminality have accounted for 90 percent of the murders each year in Boston but if you mention facts you are racist.blacks and browns chimp out and then play the race card. Its been old for decades.

The only way this is going to get better is when someone grows enough gonads to take the feral animals and air drops them on Block Island, and the Navy puts a blockade around the island. When the population dies down, then lather, rinse, repeat with the population of Fall River, then New Bedford.

The suspension rates have nothing to do with lack of “cultural sensitivity”, as these mamby-pamby, pablum puking liberal assholes would like you believe.
It has everything to do with these little darlings acting like a bunch savages !
Very little parental control. Hell, half of these little chodes couldn’t even tell you who Daddy is !
I’m done, absolutely done, with making excuses for bad behavior!
