The Plymouth Public Schools taught everyone a lesson in how NOT to handle PR this weekend:
Ummmmm…..what does this mean?
“Yesterday, at Plymouth North High School, students reported to the administration a concerning comment that was made by a staff member. The school took immediate action to assess the level of threat and implemented safety precautions such as a shelter-in-place protocol and involvement of the Plymouth Police.”
So a teacher said something crazy enough to be forced out of school with the police, and the rest of the school was put into a “shelter in place” while this was happening? But yet, they don’t think parents deserve to know what it was that was said? If it was no big deal then why were the cops called?
Apparently the administration at this school thinks parents don’t deserve an explanation. It’s not like they pay taxes that go directly to their salaries or anything like that.
Don’t worry though – they called parents up to let them know about parking passes:
However, if you don’t have Facebook, you won’t read about the teacher being escorted out of school by the cops for unexplained reasons.
But kids talk, and eventually a student ran to Fox 25 News to tell them what happened:
So the school was basically shut down and a teacher was removed by the police because he jokingly said that the test answers are locked up in a safe where he also stores his personal property for self defense? Wait….are guns illegal or something? What am I missing here?
Look, we all want school safety, but kicking out teachers and freaking everyone out because a teacher admitted to being a legal and responsible gun owner seems a little bit overboard.
Meanwhile kids be like…..
Oh good, he teaches Advanced Placement. Those tests are easy anyway. What do kids need a teacher for? Just have a sub come in and give em some worksheets. Definitely can’t have people who responsibly store their registered firearms away and aren’t afraid to mention it.
Anyway, if this student’s story ends up getting confirmed by more people this is the most insane overreaction ever. Whatever you do, don’t make fun of them for being triggered. The FBI will be knocking on your door.
