In case you haven’t heard the news Tom Brady is friends with Donald Trump. Crazy, right? And in case you also missed it, Donald Trump is a racist and so is anyone who doesn’t openly call him one. But Trump loves to use Brady to help get crowds riled up. He name dropped TB12 within 10 seconds of taking the podium at the DCU Center. But then Trump came out and said he wants to ban all Muslims from emigrating to America. Naturally then the greatest quarterback of all time, who is in a dog fight for the #1 seed in the AFC, is supposed to stop everything he’s doing and announce what his thoughts are on immigration. That’s what is expected of him by the mainstream media.
So TB12 did his weekly appearance on the Dennis and Callahan morning show on WEEI on Monday. Here’s how he answered a question about Trump from Kirk Minihane:
Donald Trump said last week that Tom goes around telling everyone how great he is. He’s using Tom as sort of, to move his popularity forward in Massachusetts. That’s what the story said. So, I’ll ask it one more time, just so it’s clear, just for the record. Are you supporting Donald J. Trump for president in 2016?
TOM BRADY: Can I just stay out of this debate? Donald, he’s a good friend of mine. I’ve known him for a long time. I support all my friends. That’s what I have to say. He’s a good friend of mine. He’s always been so supportive of me, for the last 15 years, since I judged a beauty pageant for him, which was one of the very first things that I did that thought was really cool. That came along with winning the Super Bowl. He’s always invited me to play golf. I’ve always enjoyed his company. I support all my friends in everything they do. I think it’s pretty remarkable what he’s achieved in his life. I mean, going from business, kind of an incredible businessman and then a TV star, and then getting into politics. It’s a pretty different career path. I think that is pretty remarkable.
Find me a more perfect answer you can give for that question. You can’t. Everything Brady does is perfect. Everything. But as much as people hate Trump, people hate Brady even more. Donald Trump is TRYING to be the villain. People think Brady is the antichrist in disguise. And because Brady didn’t come out and announce that he was supporting Hillary Clinton, the mainstream media found his “Trump is my friend” answer unacceptable!!! Here’s some garbage from the rag known as Deadspin:
No one thinks Brady has any depth of political knowledge or deep insights to offer—he’s essentially a show dog when not playing football—but this is a very simple situation. Brady is friends with Trump and stated today that he supports his friend in everything he does; this presumably includes Trump stating publicly and clearly that he would like to ban Muslims from the United States. If this isn’t what he means, he should say as much.
He “presumably” supports Trump’s banning of Muslims, because they go golfing together and Brady thinks he’s cool. Newsflash – Tom Brady doesn’t give a shit about anything except for football, his perfect family, and winning championships. You think Tom Brady has time to worry about politics? Nope. But in today’s PC world if you’re not vocally denouncing people with right wing ideas then you’re a racist too.
This article in Deadspin was written by Samer Kalaf, who just a couple of weeks ago put out this gem of an article:
So obviously he’s a moron.
The media’s reaction to this explains two things – 1) why it’s so great to be a Patriots fan, and 2) why Trump continues to be popular despite saying some pretty outrageous shit and never apologizing for it. You know who Aaron Rodgers or J.J. Watt is supporting for President? Nope. Because no one gives a shit. They are irrelevant. So is every other quarterback on every other team in the NFL. This whole thing just proves that we are the only team that matters and Tom Brady is the only quarterback who matters.
As for Trump, the media continues to unintentionally be the main reason he is popular. If they just let Trump say the shit he’s saying, he would lose popularity from more moderate members of the right. But it’s the fact that the media thinks that celebrities like Brady have an obligation to condemn him, that pisses people off. And when people get pissed off they turn to the Donald, who welcomes them with open arms into his warm bosom and soothes their fears with his talk of magical walls.
Meanwhile last year five members of the St. Louis Rams came out like this:
Here they are putting their hands up in support of Michael Brown – an 18 year old whose final 20 minutes of life involved robbing a store, assaulting the store owner, and trying to take a gun from a cop. Anyone ask them if they support robbing stores and assaulting police officers? Nope. They were regarded as heroes, making a bold political stand.
Just a reminder that #12 on the Rams, Stedman Bailey, got shot in the head on November 25. Guess who the other passengers in the car he was shot in called? You got it – the cops. But please, tell me more about how Tom Brady is dumb and Stedman Bailey is smart.
This whole thing is the like the perfect storm of butthurt. Everyone hates the Patriots because all we do is win and they can’t figure out why, so they call us cheaters. These same people hate Trump because all he does is lead in the polls and they can’t figure out why, so they call him a racist. The fact that Brady is buddy-buddy with him brings out nudniks like this:
Translation – Tom Brady doesn’t have the right to just sit back and play football. We have to know his political opinions. Never mind the fact that no one at Tom’s Brookline address is registered to vote. Doesn’t matter. He has to have a strong opinion that Donald Trump is a racist and he has to let the world know about it.
Dude, your profile picture is the most controversial mascot in sports. Some in the PC patrol might even call it racist. Not Turtleboy, but some would. But please, tell me more about how Tom Brady is racist for going golfing with Trump.
Where did Tom Brady touch you?
Yea, that’s what he meant to say. Definitely. Five social justice warrior points for my girl Michelle.
Then there was this front page cover from a certain rag of a newspaper:
LOL. First of all, it’s a New York newspaper, which just proves that this is all about Lombardi Trophy butthurt. Secondly, the NY Daily News is the same newspaper that took a steamy dump on one of the San Bernadino victims the day after the massacre.
So yea, they definitely have the moral high ground in this argument. Definitely.
The bottom line is that you have a right to think that your friends political opinions are bat shit crazy. I know I have many friends who are HUGE morons when it comes to politics. Doesn’t mean I don’t like hanging out with them. We just try not to bring up politics because it leads to a whole big thing and we don’t need that. That’s what Brady is with Trump – rich golfing buddies who have gravitated towards each other due to their lifetime full of winning.
