So today was the “million student march” where kids all over the country held protests to demand free college tuition, a forgiveness of accrued debts, and a $15 an hour minimum wage on campus. The Worcester State chapter was priceless. Ladies and gentlemen, I present to you the future of America:

12246968_1678696159043035_7958450081990682077_n

I swear they ordered pizzas before this and made signs out of the boxes. All of them are hilarious, but the Sunshine Kid is so business in this picture. He’s got “Eradicate Capitalism,” and “Build Socialism.” Then he’s got the international symbol for communism, anarchy, and peace. Don’t tell him that communism is a state controlled system of oppression and anarchy is the exact opposite of that. And neither is very peaceful. It will only confuse him. As hilarious as the Nicholas “Sunshine Kid” Choquette is, he’s also a huge asshole. This is what he posted on Veteran’s Day of all days:

Screen Shot 2015-11-12 at 1.07.18 PM

“Fuck the troops. Don’t support the troops.” Nuff said. I’ll let the veterans respond to that one. Oh yea, and if the Sunshine Kid and Boom-Boom want free college, they can start with Boom-Boom’s salary:

12226797_10205207944906776_1274141031_n

Anyway, it’s no surprise that this was the crowd that got behind this hilarity. The “leader” is Keeley Mullen, and she for some strange reason decided to go onto Fox News today for the Neil Cavuto show. It was one of the most painful things I’ve ever had to sit through:

I almost wanna cry. She’s got a family Neil. This poor girl had no shot. You knew which direction this was going the second he asked her how she planned on having all this free stuff paid for:

How are we gonna pay for all this? Never saw that question coming!!! LOL. I mean, what did she think she was gonna get asked when she went on Fox News? Who prepared this girl? How did she become the leader? Wait, don’t answer that. Pray for Keely.

Look, I’m not an economics guy, and I’m certainly not a Fox News guy. I can’t stand watching Fox News because they yell over each other too much. It’s uncivilized. And I can’t stand listening to people debate economics because it’s boring as shit. But this seems like a pretty simple concept. Plus it’s fun to watch hippies realize that everything they’re pushing for is hilariously dumb.

She said that the 1% should pay 90% in taxes to pay for all this stuff. LOL. Gee, that sounds like a great plan. Except for the fact that common sense tells you everyone will be fighting to be in the top 2% instead of the top 1%. Then the top 1% will move to another country where they don’t have to pay taxes like that, and there will be a new 1%. After a while it will be Keely and the Sunshine Kid that are the 1%. At least that’s what my non-existent background in economics tells me.

Gotta love her fallback solution to all of Neil Cavuto’s doomsday scenarios though – mass movement of people in the streets. More cardboard signs always fixes everything!!!

Hey, TB, how about a blog of the people who demonize people in the “one percent” as being drains on society that lists all of their “accomplishments” that makes them better than say, I dunno, a person who invented an algorithm that forecasts blizzards or droughts that made that person millions, or invented the microfiber of the shirt on their own backs?

My favorite part was where, in defending her desire to steal from the “1 percent,” she rants about them as “people who contribute nothing to society.”

    Irony, thy name is Keely.

Somewhere in America, a dad needs to be slapped. Can someone please explain that our system is NOT a zero sum game? Those with money are not keeping it from you. You live in a country where you can be anything you want, and make as much as you want, but all you want to do is whine and complain what others with ambition do and demand they pay for you? Now that’s fucked up

I don’t think it’s fair to expect this young woman to be able to engage in this kind of conversation with Neil Cavuto without feeling a bit nervous and without losing her way a bit. It was unfortunate that her first response was just “the 1%.” That 1% varies widely from state-to-state and Cavuto was the one who threw out the $250K figure. She threw out $1 million. She was woefully unprepared for this interview and I can’t believe she didn’t seem to have notes and figures to back up her arguments. This movement sprung up seemingly overnight and obviously has a lot of work to do to clarify its message and proposed plan. Much like “Black Lives Matter.” But they’ve started the conversation…

Tuition is but a tiny piece of college costs. You also pay for housing, a meal plan, books, class fees, college health care, over priced parking, etc, etc, etc. My parents paid for a good chunk of my schooling but that wasn’t without me taking on loans, earning a scholarship, and getting federal aid. Regardless, I saw and understood the bills my parents were paying, and tuition was a small piece. 3k/semester for the cheapest meal plan? 5k a semester to live in a tiny shit-dorm? Pft I actually saved them money when I moved off campus even though they were gracious enough to pick up my rent….. These kids need to wake the fuck up and take a long hard look at why university’s in this country are so expensive because it’s not the tuition. It’s the perks.

      November 13, 2015 at 1:48 pm

I think different schools have different breakdowns.

When I went to school my tuition was roughly 65% of my overall cost. My meal plan was cheap as fuck. Books did take a chunk out of expense too.

To be honest my father paid my tuition in total, so I had no skin in the game to be honest.

It was not having skin in the game, but personal integrity that kept me working hard. I think what America in youth is missing most is a sense of personal honor. Plain and simple.

Free school or no, it won’t help a lick without that.

    November 13, 2015 at 12:44 pm

Poll after poll have shown that people in the bottom 10% do not support confiscatory taxes because guess what? they someday hope to be a higher earner. In any event, free tuition is the last think we want to do. The places that have it generally have low outcomes for the simple reason that the marginal student has no skin in the game. On top of that the places that once offered it are now charging substantially higher fees (think oxford) and that is simple economics. Rather than debt be forgiven we should severely limit the amount of debt that can be take in first place. Or better yet, the feds no longer insure it, it can be discharged in bankruptcy, and the market would likely no longer offer it. Problem solved.

Okay, is it just me or does this girl deserve a refund on her Communications and English Language classes? For her, that class is clearly a “non-take-away,” and for that I feel mildly bad. I do however (when the kids at Nanas), take a swing at playing the “Ah, Ummmm,” drinking game and play this clip in loop. I would be hammered in five minutes, or I might just pass out since I wouldn’t have a chance to take a breath before the next time I had to take a shot. I really am scared for my little one though, this moron and all the morons supporting her will eventually become my daughter’s generation of Professor “Boom-Booms.” We. Are. All. Fucked.

I couldn’t watch the whole video….someone needs a math lesson….90% of $250k……umm how does a family of 4 li ve off that? Especially in MA! Let me and my spouse work our assets off for you to get free tuition and flip burgers for $15/hr ..while I live in a shanty…we might as well quit our high paying earned jobs and take a $15/hr job.

        November 13, 2015 at 10:39 am

I would wager you didn’t do the math. If people making $250k pay 90% in taxes that’s $225k to be paid in taxes. That leaves them with a net income of $25k a year. Do you really think you can support a family of 4 with a yearly net income of $25k?

        • Finnish Goalie
          November 13, 2015 at 11:22 am

The ramblings of some college student are not actual tax law.

A 90% tax bracket would result in less income, certainly. But you’re not pocketing $25k afterwards.

Do you know the difference between gross and taxable income? Exemptions, Deductions, and Credits? Tax Brackets?

Whether or not such a high rate is the proper course is for debate, but your idea of tax law is flawed.

          • Tom
            November 13, 2015 at 1:01 pm

Using that $250k figure as a baseline, a 90% tax bracket would still yield an effective tax rate of probably 70-75% or so, depending on the number of brackets and how they were structured, as well as what exemptions/deductions/credits were in play (which have a habit of being phased out or eliminated completely at higher income levels). This effective rate would increase as the level of income went up and a higher portion of total income was subject to that 90% bracket.

Whether or not such a high rate represents anything that could even be remotely construed as appropriate is not up for debate… just the insinuation is insane.

She should have just said that she’s not an economist, but that Neil should ask the Germans, Finns, French, Brazilians, and so many other major Western nations how they offer free tuition to their citizens.

I don’t claim to be an economist either, and I can’t explain how such a system might work. But it clearly works since so many countries are doing it. Hell, the Germans will let anyone come there and study for free – including Americans! Hey Sunshine Kid, sprechen sie Deutsche?

I’ll tell you how they do it:
According to the Organisation of Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) Germany has the second highest income tax burden of all OECD’s 34 countries. Of course this is not surprising considering Germany is the father of “Sozialstaat” or in English “Social State” founded in 1870 under Then Chancellor Bismarck’s reforms.
Add on more state subsidies to keep higher education free, and the 2012 tax burden figure of 49.8 percent of income is sure to increase.

There is an interesting article that was published in Forbes regarding Germany’s move to universal “free” tuition. Of course, it’s not free in any sense of the word; the taxpayer coughs up the money. The projected return on investment is not pretty. Many think that once a student gets their free education in Germany they will quickly leave the country to avoid paying the onerous taxes (currently at 49% and soon to rise to pay for free stuff).

If you watch the entire interview with Ms. Mullen, she states that her family receives public support. So it sounds like the taxpayers have been generous to her and her family. But I guess Ms. Mullen feels that it’s not been enough.

THATS AN EASY ONE TO ANSWER!!! WE HAVE MORE WELFARE DEPENDANT SLUGS IN THIS COUNTRY THAN THE POPULATIONS OF ALL THOSE COUNTRIES COMBINED. DID YOU KNOW IT COSTS US OVER 150 BILLION A YEAR FOR EDUCATION, INCARCERATION, AND WELFARE FOR ILLEGAL ALIENS ALONE? ANOTHER THING, YOU JUST LISTED THREE COUNTRIES THAT ARE ALMOST EXCLUSIVELY WHITE, I WONT COUNT BRAZIL BECAUSE THE POVERTY LEVELS ARE SO HIGH THAT IT WAS A HORRIBLE EXAMPLE TO BEGIN WITH,

Well over half of the expense is in prisons and education when slicing that pie tito.

By the way, mr “almost exclusively white countries” racist, there are tons of hardworking people of color in those places. Open mouth: insert foot.

Our military easily exceeds the cost of everything we do otherwise. It dwarfs prisons, education, and welfare. We spend more on that than the next 17 countries, most of which are allies or neutral.

The all caps is a nice touch by the way, I can tell you are so confident in what you spout that you feel the need to type like that.

The minute we don’t agree with any sort of ideal that only white Americans pay taxes for the fearmonger tactic that the top 1% will leave as soon as we tax for university, we are booed down.

One again, religiously zealous political campers everywhere. Think logically people. The European Union has a larger GDP than we do, less income inequality, less crime and gun homicides, and graduate more scientists than we do. They have free education, all of it.

I’ll tell you what privilege is, its not working for anything and having the government pay for everything. At the expense of white America tax payers.

This is why America is so angry. You have one group of people who refuse to follow the law, refuse to get an education or a job, and refuse to be productive members of society, only to create a gang that demands that they be treated with the same respect and consideration as the rest of us law-abiding citizens.

Obama’s plan for America is certainly playing out.

Obama and his liberal cronies hate the Constitution and free market capitalism. He destroyed our economy with measures like the ACA and immigration amnesty. The “Affordable” Care Act has been nothing short of a disaster. My health insurance bill is up to $450/month. (Compare this to my $25/month auto insurance from Insurance Panda or my $10/month renters insurance from Eagle… both private enterprise!)

You will be dodging bullets and living through race riots for the foreseeable future as the country and the mainstream media stops paying attention and turns to other things.
