Tomorrow is a huge day for Worcester. It’s the day we take back our city from Joe Petty and the McGovern Crime Family. Michael Gaffney is an independent voice for Worcester. A man with almost no connections, no powerful friends, and limited campaign contributions. All he has is a vision for Worcester. A Worcester where heroin addicts don’t take over the Worcester common, where principals don’t get punched in the face by students, where the police are respected by citizens, and where our streets and schools are safe for all residents. In case you needed it here are the Top 20 reasons to vote for Michael Gaffney for Mayor instead of Joe Petty…..

20. Joe Petty is sexist

In this video School Committee member Diana Biancheria dared to question why he didn’t have a safety plan ready for North High School, despite the school year starting three weeks previously. He didn’t like that too much, so her interrupted and yelled at her because he was “working his read end off.” We’ve never seen him yell at a man like that before. Meanwhile Mike Gaffney collaborates with female colleagues such as Konnie Lukes, Donna Colorio, and Jackie Kostas.

19. Joe Petty sends his kids to private school.

What else is there to say? The mayor is the chairman of the School Committee and he has such little faith in the system he oversees that he doesn’t send his kids to public schools. It’s good enough for poor kids, just not his kids. Not surprising since he’s not a WPS graduate either. Meanwhile Mike Gaffney went to Voke school and put himself through college by enrolling in the National Guard.

18. Joe Petty is using the “Tea Party” scare tactic to vote against progress.

Screen Shot 2015-11-02 at 1.31.03 PM

Michael Gaffney is a registered independent. He has the audacity to think outside the box and do what he believes in his heart is in the best interest of the citizens of Worcester. Joe Petty is bought and sold by a powerful political machine that doesn’t tolerate anyone who isn’t a card carrying member of the democratic party. That’s why they’re always doing everything in their power to paint Gaffney as en evil Tea Party republican. Mike Gaffney is loyal to nobody except the citizens of Worcester.

17. Joe Petty is supported by Deb Powers.

You are the company you keep. And nothing better illustrates what a Petty supporter looks like than Deb Powers. This is a woman who has been vocally anti-police in schools, and has supported the Kelley Square protesters. She hasn’t worked in years and while she’s complaining that Turtleboy Sports is the worst thing to ever happen to Worcester her apartment was raided by the FBI and they found a whole bunch of downloaded child porn in there. Logically she’s voting for Petty. Gaffney supporters do not download child porn.

16. Joe Petty hired Paul Giorgio to run his campaign.

Paul Giorgio is a man who has been convicted of voter fraud and had charges brought against him that he had sex with a 16-year-old boy. This was settled out of court conveniently. Logically then Joe Petty chose to hire this deviant as his campaign manager, because this is the type of person Petty associates with. Meanwhile the Gaffney campaign is a grassroots effort run by Mike Gaffny and his wife.

15. Joe Petty has an identical voting record with Tracy Novick.

Everyone knows Tracy Novick is a disease that Worcester is trying to eliminate. However, few people know that while he has been chairman of the SC, Petty has an identical voting record as Tracy NovickThis is a woman who sued the city so crackheads can beg motorists for drug money. Petty and her vote together 100% of the time, which is weird because Lenny Zelauskas and the EAW endorsed Petty but NOT Tracy Novick. Gee, wonder why? It goes without saying that Gaffney is the polar opposite of Tracy Novick.

14. Joe Petty snuck in Ed Augustus to be City Manager.

The whole purpose of a City Manager is to prevent political corruption. It was a progressive reform system created back in the day when machine backed politicians got elected as mayors and then dipped their hands in the city treasury. The whole point is to put someone with a degree in management in charge so that they are not loyal to anyone and run the city efficiently. Petty snuck Ed Augustus, a career politician, in as City Manager, claiming it was temporary. But yet he’s still here, and just this past year he tried selling Chandler Ballfields to WSU so they could convert it into a parking lot, and later tried to see Newton Hill to the Worcester Tennis Club. Mike Gaffney would do what he could to find a new City Manager.

13. Joe Petty gets most of his money from rich people who don’t live in Worcester.

Petty’s got tons of cash in the war chest, most of which comes from people who live outside of Worcester. Michael Gaffney has financed his own campaign with mostly his own money and will be loyal to no one once elected mayor.

12. Joe Petty has lost control of City Council meetings.

City Council meetings have turned into a complete circus under Joe Petty’s watch. The perfect example was the Mosaic audit meeting, where hippie after hippie stood up, went over the allotted time to speak, called city councilors racist, degraded the police, and asked the city to build statues for the Kelley Square 4. The environment has become toxic and Worcester residents are intimidated to go and speak their minds for fear of being called racist or other derogatory names.

11. Joe Petty opposed police at North High School.

After four VP’s were punched in the face at North High last year Joe Petty refused to budge on putting cops in the building. He deferred to the wisdom of his girl Melinda Boone instead. Well finally after a week in which guns were found in Worcester Tech and Burncoat High School, Petty finally gave in because he had no choice. Gaffney would’ve had cops in the schools a long time ago.

10. Joe Petty said we could not “arrest our way out of “ violent gang epidemic.

The Worcester Summer of Love was problematic. Every day there was another shooting. Gaffney proposed more cops on the street and Konnie Lukes proposed collaborating with the State Police. Gary Gemme, Petty’s boy, considered this a slap in the face. That’s when Jumpin Joe infamously said that we can’t “arrest our way out of the gang problem.” Instead he proposed more social programs and long term plans that wouldn’t work. Mike Gaffney would’ve arrested our way out of the problem because you’re supposed to arrest bad guys.

9. Joe Petty backed Lisa Dyer.

North High principal Lisa Dyer started a shitstorm when she called teacher Janice Harvey racist for publicly saying that she was “color blind” when assessing her students. Her reputation was permanently damaged as a result and Lenny Zelauskas and the EAW demanded that Dyer be fired as principal. When this did not happen Petty was confronted at a SC meeting by Lenny, and Petty told him in no uncertain terms that he was siding with Dyer because she was doing a “great job.”

Mike Gaffney would’ve supported the teachers, not the incompetent principal.

8. Joe Petty did not want to audit Mosaic.

Despite evidence that Mosaic was cashing checks from the city and not providing services, and despite the fact that the Kelley Square and Lincoln Square blockades began and ended there, Petty was hesitant to support Gaffney’s audit of Mosaic. Ultimately he voted for the audit but only to prove to Gaffney that it would come back clean. But now we know that it came back dirty as shit because Mosaic wasn’t paying anyone but was still asking for reimbursement for payroll.

7. Joe Petty gave outside special interests groups influence and private meetings about school safety.

Screen Shot 2015-11-02 at 1.26.21 PM Screen Shot 2015-11-02 at 1.26.34 PM

After 4 VP’s were assaulted by students at North High 499 North High students signed a petition to put police in their school. Instead of listening them or meeting with teachers, Petty had a private meeting with several people who don’t live in Worcester and wanted to sell the city diversity trainings. Thus they influenced him to keep police out of schools until months later when the gun incidents occurred. Gaffney favored police in the schools since the day this became news.

6. The Worcester Police overwhelmingly support Mike Gaffney.

Unions are supposed to be in the bag for democratic machine politicians. The fact that the police union was willing to cross lines and support the independent candidate Gaffney tells you just how bad Petty has failed the police. He allowed City Council meetings to turn into anti-police rallies and his two biggest supporters in the Council – Sarai Rivera and Dicky Rushton – both voted against the resolution that supported the Worcester Police because they didn’t want to offend the “black lives matter” protesters.

5. Joe Petty is satisfied with the “vibrant” downtown.

According to Joe Petty our downtown is thriving. There are college students and doctors walking around, eating lunch, and buying things at the stores. As a result he is trumpeting the luxury hotel that will be built at City Square while our schools remain underfunded. Meanwhile this is what the City Common looks like at 2:00 PM on a Tuesday:

12023129_1635438603406083_1981613550_n 12048968_1635438686739408_1289822507_n-3 12053321_1635438630072747_367939703_n-2

4. Joe Petty said the DOJ talks were successful and he’d do them again.

The DOJ talks were a slap in the face to all Worcester residents. Their presence here suggested that Worcester has a race problem, which it does not. But Petty not only invited them here, he said he’d do it all again!! Mind you at these meetings students accused their teachers of being racist, and a handout was given to participants that said that only white people were capable of being racist. Mike Gaffney proudly attended none of these meetings because he realized what a farce they were.

3. Joe Petty supported Melinda Boone 1,000%.

Everyone realizes what a massive failure Booneghazi was as superintendent. Everyone except for Joe Petty. He was her biggest supporter as she brought in terrible principals like Carenza Jackson and Lisa Dyer, refused to suspend students in order to improve attendance and graduation rates, and brought in a $50,000 a year “spokeswoman” so she didn’t have to face the media. Here’s what he wrote about her on the way out:

Mike Gaffney opposed Melinda Boone the whole way and she likely left because she feared he would be elected mayor.

2. Joe Petty is part of an inclusive, rich, white men only club.

Joe Petty and his friends call themselves “progressive.” They’re not. Jim McGovern, Joe Petty, Ed Markey, Ed Augustus, Dicky Rushton – these are all just politically connected, upper middle class white people who scratch each other’s backs and pretend to care about issues affecting people of color and women. Gaffney is widely supported by leaders in the community of color like Mesfin Beshir and Jackie Kostas, his fundraisers are held at blue collar establishments like Rocky’s. Meanwhile Petty had a $500 per person fundraiser at the Worcester Club. Here’s the flier for it:

You’ll notice that of the 46 people on there, 40 are men, and no one is black. This is the group that supposedly represents progress and warns you about the evils of Mike Gaffney and TEA PARTY!!

1. Our city is safe.

This is the biggest problem with Petty – he’s a liar. We wouldn’t have a problem with him if he’d admit there are issues in Worcester that need to be addressed. But it’s simply unacceptable to deny that our schools are not safe, our neighborhoods are being encroached by hooligans, and our police could use more resources. Gaffney often is criticized for being too negative, but in reality he’s just pointing out the things he is going to try to fix as mayor. If you think it’s a bad thing to fix problems, then vote for Petty. But if you think problems need to be addressed then vote for Gaffney.

Share this with everyone, especially people who aren’t on the Internet and have been lied to by the Petty machine for the past year.

Really? It’s just another version of Whack-A-Douche. This guy just happens to be a major douche, even by Turtle standards. I realize that Jews are not on the list of approved people to bash here at TBS, at least until Gaffney comes up short today and is no longer useful to the cause, though the silence of the Turtles in the face of such blatant anti-Semitism speaks volumes.

The majority of normal commenters have seen the same style of posting from that user name multiple times at this point, and eventually just ignore it.

I personally enjoy arguing on this topic, so I stick with it.

      You can relate.

    1. Gaff is a Jew have you seen the poor Palestinians, joe is no better but considering the alternative. We know how anti-Semitic TB is towards Muslims but he should know Jews are much much worse. Vote petty before gaff makes us look like the terrorist Israelis.

I love how you’re trying to hijack a term that goes back well over 1,500 years.

    • November 3, 2015 at 8:23 am

I don’t think think you know what anti Semitic means.

      • TurtleBoySpurts
        November 3, 2015 at 9:41 am

        Semitic [(suh- mit -ik)]

A descriptive term for several peoples of the Middle East and their descendants, including Jews and Arabs. Today the term is mainly applied to Jews.
        – – – – – –

“Wwy” is technically correct. Arabs are also a Semitic people, and thus prejudice directed at them is indeed anti-Semitic behavior. The term Anti-Semitic has been hijacked by the Jews and the guilty West to refer specifically to hostility against Jews, but it is incorrect with respect to the origin of the term, which by the way, does not date back well over 1,500 years, as some Turtle “scholars” argue. Learning is fundamental.

        • November 3, 2015 at 9:54 am

By technically correct, you mean correct. Now you know why I have to vote for petty, you idiots at mosaic don’t know how to show racism, sorry TB but you shouldn’t go after a Muslim kid or adult,I’m not Muslim but your rhetoric and Finnish goalies stupidity had to shown, was waiting for someone to read the dictionary to goalie. Semite refers to Noah’s son Shem and his bloodline.grow up.

          November 3, 2015 at 11:13 am

And if you would put more than five seconds thought into my timeline choice, it’d make sense.

The anti-semitism we know today, and our modern definitions, are related to animosity and hate against the Jewish people. It has existed in the past, well before the Common Era, but the modern animosity in the Western World has its basis in Christian religious animosity. The Church had authority to actively pursue such an agenda starting approximately 1,500 years, when the Byzantine Empire was in its Golden Age.

Prior cultures and religions that the Jews interacted with did have animosity against them, but it wasn’t because they supposedly “killed God.”

And yes, the Arabs are a Semitic people. When I was younger, I used to think “well why doesn’t that term anti-semitism include them too?” But then, I just accepted what the term means and based argument on that fact, not semantics.

    • TurtleBoySpurts
      November 3, 2015 at 9:50 am

Yes, you are correct to identify Palestinians as a Semitic people, as are other Arab Muslims, so prejudice and hostility towards them does indeed constitute anti-Semitic behavior in the true sense of the word. Thanks for clearing that up. Now we can more accurately label you as specifically anti-Jewish, as opposed to anti-Semitic. You must feel a whole lot better knowing you’re no longer so misunderstood.

Yeah, I laughed out loud at that one too. Nothing but ridiculousness born of desperation. Gaffney’s just another white, 1% insider who’s done a fine job of exploiting ignorant, working-class Turtle anger, while managing to keep enough distance that he can deny any actual association with the steaming dump that is TBS. He’ll be scraping the Turtle doo of his shoes just as fast as he can once today’s over, especially when he takes stock and realizes this association actually contributed to his loss in his bid for Mayor. That’ll be almost as satisfying as Joe Petty’s victory today. I hope you’ll join the rest of us hippies for our Joe Petty Victory celebration tomorrow. We’re going to start at Wormtown Brewery and work our way down the TBS sponsor list. I’m looking forward to making some calls later this evening to secure reservations.
