We just wanted to do a real quick public service announcement for turtle riders today in light of something we noticed on the Facebook machine yesterday, and lately in general. While we were posting live updates of the situation in Rochdale tons of people started posting this under our posts:
Posting a period, or writing “following,” or even just hitting the enter button is all the rage right now on Facebook. It means you’ll get notifications every time someone posts something else on that same link. This particular post had over 300 comments so people’s phones were probably blowing up yesterday. Anyway, we just wanted to make this a teachable moment and show you all something wicked cool. In the top right hand corner of the post there is a triangle you can click on, which will give you the option of choosing, “Turn on notifications for this post.”
It was driving some people nuts yesterday who had left comments because they’re hoping to read some interesting commentary, but instead they get an orgy of punctuation. We don’t really care what you do. Turtleboy thought it was hilarious. We just wanted to let you know that this is an option for you if you are interested in doing so going forward. Because spreading knowledge and awareness is a service we like to provide for the people. Just sayin.
P.S. It’s gonna be awesome when people start typing periods after we post this to Facebook!!
We urge you to support the Turtleboy Sponsors by doing business with them. Without them none of this is possible. Click on any of them to check out their sites or Facebook pages.
