At tonight’s council meeting City Councilor Michael Gaffney will be leading the charge against fellow City Councilor Sarai Rivera for trying to get the city to raze her eyesore of a “church” at 89 Austin Street, for free.
Basically the city has hundreds of properties it needs to take down, and they started with six. Coincidentally her church (which no one wants to buy and they pay no property taxes on because it’s a “church) is one of those, and she claims she did not know it was on the list.
City Manager Ed Augustus is saying that the “the optics here are less than good.” He took the blame for not knowing that he was giving a City Councilor preferential treatment. He’s very good at apologizing for fuck-ups after the fact. Like last year when he put a parking ban in place at 1:02 AM, towed hundreds of cars, and then used taxpayer money to pay for the towing fees. He’s very good at saying sorry. Best we’ve ever heard.
He also was upset that Gaffney and Councilor Konnie Lukes called him out on his bullshit, saying that “no one has ever called my integrity into question.” Uhh……bro, do you even read Turtleboy Sports? We call into question your integrity all the time. You’re incompetent, unqualified, and were planted into a job because you’re part of the McGovern Crime Family. Everyone knows that.
Our good friend Dianne Williamson over at the Turtlegram and Gazette had some strong things to say about City Councilor Michael Gaffney in her column today. She took particular issue with Gaffney’s “Cheers Worcester” video series in which he stands behind a bar, eats food, and attacks his political adversaries with heavy doses of sarcasm:
Let’s check out what Dianne though of this:
“Either you’re a complete idiot or you’re lying to us,” Gaffney sneered. “Either way, you shouldn’t be on the council anymore and honestly you should just give up the seat.”
He has yet to call that we lock her up. But if his style sounds familiar, it’s because Worcester is witnessing it’s very own clone of trickle-down Trump, right down to the social media bullying, the wild claims of wide-spread corruption and even the weirdly-dyed tresses that resemble no color found in nature. (By the way, councilor, Justin Timberlake called. He wants his hair back).”
Alright, first of all, I’m all for roasting Councilor Gaffney. He can take it. But Justin Timberlake? Nah, you can do better than that Dianne. Gaffney looks like the love child of Eminem and Rand Paul:
Come on….you know it’s true.
But notice Dianne tosses in some of the favorite buzzwords of the butthurt patrol – Trump and bullying. You can say what you want about Gaffney, but he’s pretty much all by himself against the rest of the City Council all the time. Him and his wife declared a two man war against the machine. I’m not quite sure two people are capable of bullying the majority group that holds power, but evidently Gaffney has superpowers we were not aware of.
Gaffney hasn’t said he wants to make Worcester great again. Instead, he wants to “Take Worcester Back.” From what or whom is unclear, but the message is similarly disturbing.
His latest claim of political corruption stems from the city’s decision to raze a property owned by Rivera’s husband, the Rev. Jose A. Encarnacion. The couple serve as pastor and co-pastor of a former church building, Iglesia Cristiana de la Comunidad at 89 Austin St., which has been deemed a danger and is slated for demolition.
Gaffney has questioned why the city should pay for the demolition when Encarnacion secured two loans on the property totaling $85,000 after the demolition order was made in 2012. Gaffney went further on his YouTube page, calling their behavior “a nice little financing scheme” and claimed Rivera is “pulling down” fellow Democrats. He also called her a “made member of the fellowship of corruption of the McGovern crime family,” a tired and foolish reference to Congressman Jim McGovern.
HAHAHHAHAHAHHAHAHAHHAHAHAHA!!! Good one Dianne!!
I LOVE when people try to pretend that there isn’t a well organized political machine headed by Congressman Jim McGovern (and including people like Joe Petty, Joe O’Brien, Dan Donahue, Moses Dixon, and even Sarai Rivera) that controls politics in Worcester.
It’s so cute. Nothing to see here folks!! As if we all just are imagining the well-funded, organized apparatus that appears every time someone like Don Donahue, Joe Petty, Moses Dixon, or Sarai Rivera runs for office. It works because Worcester is full of idiots like this:
If you’ve ever seen this yahoo commenting, he goes on and on in every comments section about the same old shit about Gaffney and Trump and blah, blah, blah. He actually used to be a diehard turtle rider, and he would come to our defense on Facebook whenever someone said something bad about us:
Then we started badmouthing the machine and he suddenly hated us.
But at the end of the day Steve Quist is just an unemployed toilet scrubber whose wife has to pay their mortgage on June Street. People like him are a dime a dozen, and they will vote exactly how Jim McGovern tells them to vote. The best part for the McGovern Crime Family is they want nothing in return.
But please Dianne, tell me more about how this reference to a McGovern machine political monopoly is “foolish.” LOL. She doesn’t even believe that. Dianne isn’t stupid. She just doesn’t like Gaffney. Plus, she works for a newspaper, headed by Karen Webber, that does not allow their employees to write things that are critical of anyone associated with the McGovern Crime Family.
We must all take a stand against @mgaffneycc and his hate speech. From now on our columnists can only write negative things about him!!

“But Gaffney is more than a contrarian. As evidenced by his YouTube rants, he’s arrogant, mean-spirited, petty, attention-seeking, vicious and not a little bit creepy. He clearly fancies himself a charming wag, when in reality he’s devoid of any semblance of appeal or charisma. After watching his rants, delivered while dressed in identical bird-themed sweaters of various colors, I had a strong urge to cry foul and take a shower. And I couldn’t help but wonder how much of the liquor he mixes on screen is imbibed before he turns on the camera.”
If Turtleboy is being 100% honest here, we don’t totally disagree. Not the biggest fan of these videos. He does indeed come across as arrogant, petty, and smug. But it’s a free country and he can do as he pleases. Dianne even admits in the column that Sarai is shady as hell and clearly is up to no good. But none of that matters because Gaffney just kind of rubs her the wrong way.
At the end of the day his style is not the reason we support him. It’s his transparency, coupled with the fact that he seems to be one of the only ones looking out for the taxpayers that makes him likable. I could give a shit less if he’s cocky or arrogant, so long as he stands up to blatant corruption.
That’s what makes Gaffney so refreshing. We haven’t really seen anything like this before. People like Sarai Rivera have been pulling stunts like this church scam for quite some time now. And FINALLY someone is calling them out on their bullshit. Everyone else has been too afraid to, because it means they’re crossing the McGovern Crime Family, which is usually a death sentence. Not for Gaffney though. He knows he’s got a solid backing of working class people who appreciate what he did to stop the funding for Mosaic Cultural Complex, voting for a lower residential tax rate, and calling out corruption when he sees it.
We urge you to support the Turtleboy Sponsors by doing business with them. Without them none of this is possible. Click on any of them to check out their sites or Facebook pages.
