So at tomorrow’s Worcester City Council meeting they will once again be talking about their favorite topic – Turtleboy. Councilor Khrystian King has introduced something for consideration that basically says that Councilor Gaffney can’t cite Turtleboy Sports anymore at Council meetings. I swear to God this is happening in real life. Check out 12b:
He wants a rules amendment that will
“prohibit the submission of any material by a council member that is profane, contains, slurs, or hate speech.”
Gee whiz, does anyone know an outspoken and mischievous Worcesterite who has a propensity for profanity?
Oh yea, Turtleboy. And it just so happens that Councilor Gaffney cited Turtleboy Sports several times in his scathing evaluation of City Manager Ed Augustus. Wacky Walter Bird was none too pleased with this and voiced his butthurt displeasure in his free magazine:
Yet, to read Gaffney’s evaluation is to ingest a rather appalling presentation. He included material none too short on profanity and laden with vile and inflammatory language, including a reference to “puss bags.” They were not his words, but as an elected official, a boss no less, that he included that material in the professional evaluation of an employee was jarring.
But the biggest joke about Councilor King’s proposed amendment is that he wants to ban “hate speech.” That in and of itself should get his silliness tossed out. Hate speech is a made up word created by social justice warriors so they can censor speech they don’t agree with. If they don’t like what you’re saying then they call it hate speech and then you can’t say it anymore. It’s an arbitrary term that is interpreted differently by different people depending on their perspectives and world views.
Butthurts like Sarai Rivera and Councilor King might consider Turtleboy to be “hate speech,” and this would be a great way to keep Turtleboy from ever being referenced at Council meetings. If this was in place a year ago there would have been no references to our investigations into Mosaic Cultural Complex, because that too would have been deemed hate speech.
And ultimately that is what this is all about – protecting fraudulent groups like Mosaic and fraudulent people like Sarai Rivera by creating a shield from legitimate criticism. Nice try Khrystian. Enjoy your two year stint on the Council and make sure to take lots of pictures!!!
P.S. I will say this. Even though we do not agree with most of Councilor King’s politics, he is probably the sharpest dresser we’ve had on the Council in a while. Credit where credit is due.
