Bad news everyone – RBG is coming back from Oakland. They didn’t want him there either apparently. Now that his taxpayer funded vacation for his poetry slam is over, he’s got a message for all you people who thought this money could’ve been used on something more appropriate:

Hey Worcester taxpayers – if you are upset that taxpayer dollars financed a known criminal’s weekend getaway, you are a “cockbag.” This is how taxpayers in Worcester are treated by those on the receiving end. Gotta love that hashtag too “if they hate me I’m doing it right.” This coming from a guy who has messaged hundreds of turtle riders, whining about why people don’t like him. He’s proud of the fact that you hate what he stands for. And there’s nothing you can do about it.

Remember that $1,500 check the city wrote to Poetry Slam Inc?

11880691_1618549781761632_2731090934438416409_n (2)

Remember how Poetry Slam Inc was NOT a registered non-profit?

11853999_10204972496768452_1300984324_n (2)

The remember the email sent by City Manager Ed Augustus’s lackey Michael Traynor, justifying and explaining what that $1,500 went towards:

In its application, the Seven Hills Poetry Slam Collective identified its event as a poetry slam occurring the first Sunday of every month to be held at the Sahara Restaurant on Highland Street, Worcester. The poetry slams are open, public events; meaning anyone may participate. However, when applying for a grant, the applicant must demonstrate that it has a letter of commitment for the venue and, in this case, letters of commitment from poets who would participate.

Per the requirements of the grant program, any funded event must occur in the city and all disbursements are reimbursements. Thus, the $1,500.00 check that was issued to Poetry Slam, Inc. on Wednesday was for expenses previously incurred (e.g., payments to the poets, etc.) which would have been supported by receipts totaling $1,500.00.

I further linked through to the actual website and read that the August 2nd event was called “Team Sendoff,” however as stated above, the WAC funds reimbursed for the actual poetry slam at the Sahara Restaurant that night. The city has no legal authority to tell 7Hills that it cannot fundraise for another event during the poetry slam. The grant funds support local poetry slams and a local poetry slam indeed took place on August 2nd, whatever else occurred is extraneous to the grant program and the city’s payment of the $1,500.00.

Expenses previously incurred = dinner and drinks for RBG and crew at the Sahara Restaurant. So Mr. Traynor is actually saying that this is not a big deal, because at least we didn’t pay for his plane ticket to Oakland. We just paid for his Bud Heavy’s on Highland Street. No biggie.

Screen Shot 2015-08-18 at 11.56.50 AM

Mr. Traynor also attempted to why he wrote a check to a “non-profit” that is based out of Billerica, despite the fact that arts programs in the WPS are drastically underfunded:

The Worcester Arts Council allocates funds received from the Massachusetts Cultural Commission on an annual basis. Each year WAC received applications for grants paid from that allocation (the 2016 grant application period began yesterday and closes October 15, 2015). The above payment relates to the 2015 grant awards, which were announced at an event at the Compass Lounge on May 7, 2015.

One of the 2015 grant recipients was the Seven Hills Poetry Slam Collective, submitted by Elizabeth Heath. In her application, it states that Poetry Slam, Inc. a 501c3 Non-Profit would serve as fiscal sponsor and agent (the applicant is not a legal entity so it would need a fiscal agent).

Translation – we gave them the money because they were the first to apply for it. Elizabeth Heath obviously knows how the system works. Music teachers at Worcester Arts Magnet or Burncoat Middle do not. It’s an unfair advantage that she has over them. It’s corrupt. It’s immoral. It needs to end. We highlighted the part about Poetry Slam, Inc being a non-profit, because as you saw above, they are not currently a registered non-profit. Yet Mike Traynor, who represents the City Manager, says they are. Because doing some basic research is a lot harder than writing a check to the first poet who sends in an application for a grant.

Now check out the guidelines for receiving this grant:

11912991_10153018721051657_1495125194_n

So per the guidelines you can’t have receive grant in order to raise funds. The grant also also can’t be used for “refreshments.” Well you tell me – what the fuck did they spend $1,500 on at the Sahara Restaurant? Because generally as I know it, restaurants serve food and refreshments. And per the email from Mr. Traynor, the grant money was used as a sendoff at Sahara Restaurant, which would obviously be considered raising funds.

Now let’s look at who is on the executive board if you google Massachusetts cultural commission:

11911003_10153018727741657_1602070750_n

Two names should stick out there. The first is Tina Zlody. She is running for City Council and is aligned with Joe Petty, who actively promotes her bid for council. You often see yard signs with the two of them together. This obviously implicates Petty in this.

But the more alarming name is Michael Traynor. So let me get this straight. Mike Traynor is on the executive board that cuts the checks. Then he wrote an email explaining they have no legal right to tell Poetry Slam Inc how to spend the money, with esq after his name? But he probably helped write the guidelines?

My head is about to fucking EXPLODE.

Worcester might be the most corrupt place in America. We are putting Chicago to shame. It’s a bunch of entrenched, borderline criminals, who are stealing our money and giving it to more criminals. Then Turtleboy exposes the truth and they call us racist, because they have to deflect the heat off of them. It’s the same exact thing the NFL is doing to Tom Brady by going after him for deflated footballs, so people won’t notice that their record on domestic abuse is deplorable.

But wait – it gets better!!! They double dipped. The grant guidelines say you can put in multiple requests for funding but will only get one grant. So the grant paid for the poetry slams at Sahara Restaurant. But then they got MORE MONEY for poetry slams at City Hall. And guess who hosted those poetry slams:

11910721_10153018987171657_146663674_n 11880786_10153018987176657_333017265_n

Oh good. More taxpayer funded refreshments. No wonder Ed Augustus is trying to cover this up. He’s in on it. He buys into this bullshit. It boggles my fucking mind that our City Manager is this covertly corrupt. This is the same guy who secretly tried to sell Chandler Ballfields to Worcester State so they could turn it into a parking lot. Why is this idiot running our city when he keeps getting caught with his hand in the cookie jar?

11880220_10205306453604497_1649972630_n

Look, the whole point of having a city manager is to decrease corruption, not increase it. City Manager systems were created during the Progressive Era because reformers saw politicians for what they were – machine backed hacks and criminals. A city manager is not supposed to be a politician. They are supposed to be a professional with a background in management, and runs a city like an efficient business.

But Ed Augustus always has been and always will be a politician. He was elected to the Worcester School Committee at the age of 24, then went on to the Statehouse. Now he’s Worcester’s City Manager. But politicians aren’t supposed to be City Managers. It defeats the entire purpose of the City Manager system. It’s corrupt and you have a duty to end this in November. We need to elect a City Council who will fire Ed Augustus.

Sarai Rivera must be replaced by Jackie Kostas.

Tony Economou must be replaced by Cindy Nguyen.

Mike Gaffney must replace Joe Petty as mayor.

Kate Toomey, Phil Palmieri, and Rick Rushton all must go as well. These wannabe politicians, who can’t rise any bigger than Worcester, are Ed Augustus lackeys and they will keep him on no matter what. Therefore they must go.

Turtleboy Ticket will be announced in a day or two. Stay tuned.

You are wrong about Tony Economou. He is a great city councilor. Look at his comments on the Mosaic Corruption Complex audit.

I’m not sure I’m seeing the problem with Ed Augustus hosting a couple of poetry slams at City Hall, since they are taking place in Worcester and all are welcome to participate. It may not be your “thing” but it is considered a form of art and brings people together. I do have a problem with giving people money (which is what happened in a roundabout way) to travel out of state to participate in such events.

Also, I could use some clarification as to what shows that Poetry Slam, Inc. is not a 501C3…

I don’t think people here hate RBG, they just express what a waste of time, money, and space he is. RBG your not alone.

Can we talk about what kind of self respecting adult would be caught dead doing “slam poetry”?

Trick question. No self respecting adult would be caught dead doing slam poetry.

    RGB,

I know you come here to read cause your ego gets off on this. I don’t hate you. I would have to care to do that. I have read things TBS says and the things you say. YOU YOU YOU are the hateful raceist. Try some self awareness you will be shocked to see what a shitbag you really are. TBS hates yes… But he hates corruption, that is not a bad thing. I read no racism here and I know racism. In fact I have probably been a victim of worse raceism than you. Grow up. Really. Grow up and realize you are not the only person in the world and you and your ilk are not all who matters. It is not racist to call out people for corruption and unfair behavior. Being a person of color does not give you the right to shit. Wake up man! You ARE part of the problem.

You are shaking your head in denial. You will make excuses… Because that is what selfish people like you do. You only do things that benefit you so don’t go talking about things you do for charity. You are a poser and a peice of shit.

Loyal reader. You are spot on about the west side. Values already down in past year plus with the large amount of gang arrests in Tatnuck/June. Home invasions off Salisbury. If your still in Tatnuck you still might have time but time is short to get out. June is already gonzo and Pleasant up to Richmond. Only takes an invasion of a half dozen or so houses.

RBG exemplifies everything wrong with Worcester and this country. This latest scandal may very well cost Petty and Augustus their jobs. How did Augustus not see this coming ?

Government needs to get back to governing and leave the social engineering to the Iphone typing experts.
They can GoFund there way into a social service agency. They obviously have the support, if all those people could change out of their jammies and show up to do some work.

RBG you dumb bro? it was I who called you out for a charity “Boxing” event. Not MMA, lord knows your big ass can’t grapple, do submissions, throw kicks, or fight on the ground. I gave you some chance with Boxing.

Also, my wife, daughter, and I, aren’t down with you calling me a misogynist. I’m equally not down with you calling me homophobic and racists, I’m sure my close friends also would take issue with.

I guess all you have is your ignorant assumptions and generalizations. The constant chanting of the same line whenever you don’t agree with someone. A line that is used to suppress anyone who is not down with your bullshit.

Also, I voted for Obama twice and consider myself an Economic Liberal and am registered as a Democrat.

Hope you enjoyed tax payer dollars at Sahara. The place is very nice so I am sure you did.

I just looked up demographics for Millis where Ed August lives. It is 96% white and quite exclusive. This city is a sewer. The professionals who work downtown don’t dare leave their office buildings all day. Main street is filled with the shirtless, the tattooed, the drug-addicted, the crippled, the misshapen, the criminal and the shiftless. There is not one cop ever to be seen walking the beat. In five or ten years’ time all of the productive people living on the westside will have taken a loss on their houses and moved, leaving this obscene city to devolve into an even more savage mini-Detroit.

You are 100% correct, which is why this city should have a residency requirement for positions such as Ed’s.

Is that a different copy of the grant guidelines? Because those guidelines clearly say two things:

    1) It’s for reimbursement (so it’s not like they’re giving money in advance of the event)

    2) It’s for events during the 2016 calendar year.

It is not the 2016 calendar year, so if they’re already dipping into that money, wouldn’t that be against the rules?

Is it calendar year, or fiscal year? Because fiscal year 2016 would have started on July 1.

      • RJ

Calendar year. Says it right in the first bolded sentence (end of first paragraph) of the document.

      August 19, 2015 at 7:55 am

I’m assuming that TBS used the current grant application information because it’s the one that’s available online. One can also assume that the parameters are the same as last year, i.e., the grant money cannot be used to fund a fundraiser, which it sounds like this event at Sahara was. That’s a problem.

  • August 18, 2015 at 12:31 pm

Bobby Blackmail-Gibmemoney seems to act like we “hate him cuz we ain’t him.”

No. I don’t hate him. I don’t hate him at all. If anything, I’m thoroughly impressed with how he’s managed to completely game the system so that he can not only collect unemployment for a period of YEARS, but he gets the city of Worcester to cut him checks so he can party with his criminal friends and go to Oakland for his hobby.

I hate that he has the unmitigated GALL to be pissed at the people who work for a living to support his hairy, blubbery ass.
