Masslive: State Sen. James T. Welch, D-West Springfield, is seeking summer interns to work in his Statehouse office in Boston.
“This is an excellent opportunity for a college student in the Boston area to learn about state government and the legislative process,” Welch said. “Statehouse interns will have a unique perspective on the workings of Beacon Hill, while at the same time gaining valuable professional experience.”
Unpaid interns greet office visitors, answer phones, and help with filing and correspondence, among other office duties. Priority will be given to college students who live in Welch’s House district, which includes the cities of West Springfield, Springfield and Chicopee. Internships generally coincide with the standard college calendar, beginning at semester’s end in mid-May or early June and continuing through July.
Look at this sneaky ginger!! This same state senator looking for unpaid interns, just voted to give himself a $40,000 raise, and then voted to override Governor Charlie Baker’s veto of it. Hey Senator Firebunny, maybe you could afford to actually pay these kids to do your secretarial work if you took that $40K you didn’t actually earn and paid it to your
And he’s begging for this slave labor from college kids from his district, who happen to go to school near Boston. If you go to college near Boston, it means you’re paying an arm and a leg for an expensive private school. And because you made zero dollars as Senator Welch’s slave, you’re gonna be up to your ears in debt when you graduate with a degree in gender studies. Don’t worry though, he’ll just blame it on the Russians or evil big banks, and you won’t have to repay any of it.
Get this guy out of my face in the next election!! Whoever runs against him automatically gets the Turtleboy endorsement.
