Tuesday was a complete circus for Celtics fans. It was originally reported Jazz F Gordon Hayward had signed with Boston, then it was reported he was still deciding. A solid 4 hours later Gordon Hayward published in The Players Tribune that he will sign with the Boston Celtics. He agreed to a 4-year $128 million deal with the Celtics, sheesh that’s a ton.

Anyway, Hayward is a nice player, he averaged 21.9 PPG 5.4 RPG, 3.5 APG while shooting at a 47% clip. Again, Hayward is nice, but he is not the guy to push Boston ahead of LeBron. Danny Ainge will probably get a gold star from Celtics fans on this deal, forgetting he is a complete chicken shit with trades.

Don’t worry, I am old enough to remember that less than two weeks ago Danny Ainge blew two trades for star players that with Hayward, could oust the Cavaliers. Rewind it a little, the Bulls traded F Jimmy Butler for Zach LaVine, Kris Dunn, & swapped picks. Not even a week later, Indiana traded Paul George to the Thunder for Victor Oladipo, & Sabonis, ZERO picks involved.

Despite those underwhelming trade packages, people believe Chicago & Indiana were asking for Fenway Park, access to city tax dollars, & 6 of Bill Russell’s rings in exchange for Butler or George. Danny Ainge was adamant on keeping hypothetical picks and not acquiring top talent:

“I think the Jimmy Butler stuff is real,” Aldridge told NBATV’s GameTime. “[The Celtics] have been trying to get Jimmy Butler. [Ainge] doesn’t want to give up Jae Crowder. That’s the main sticking point there and he doesn’t want to give up Jae Crowder in a deal and that’s the guy the Bulls are insisting on right now in any package for Butler.”

Yes, you read that right folks, Danny Ainge wouldn’t budge on a legit all-star player because of the #3 pick, & Jae Fucking Crowder, otherwise known as the human garbage can. Any sane human being would have taken a trade acquiring Jimmy Butler, for Jae Crowder & the #3 pick.

Now the Celtics are in limbo for more time, the outlook of the NBA Playoffs will not change, it’s going to be Warriors & Cavaliers for the 4th fucking time in a row. After this signing, there will be delusional fans that say this is enough to beat LeBron. Isaiah Thomas has already fallen into the trap:

Can you imagine looking in the mirror and saying, “Gordon Hayward & Jae Crowder will lead us to the Finals, book it.” If you somehow think this, you aren’t a rational person, and you’re going to have an awful NBA season. Regardless of this inevitable 2018 NBA Finals, I guess Hayward will be able to back up this blog:

      this is turrrrible

    2. Sell Crowder for Food Stamps

The reason Butler and George went for next to nothing is because they went to western conference teams, Pacers and Bulls wouldn’t help the Celtics beat the Cavs, and I’d rather have the #3 pick with a future than Butler who would be gone in two seasons or George who would be gone in one. This is what everyone thought the Sox should do in the past, give up all young talent and hopes for the future just for one or two great seasons and then watching free agents run for the field or get over paid and we are stuck with shitty players or shitty contracts. We can ditch Crowder for next to nothing, teams want him and he has a small contract that other teams would like to have. But I think you’re on the now or never train, in two years, Lebron will be on the West, we will have an easy path to the finals while they have 8 teams beating the hell out of each other and we play a worn down west team with our young players and better coaching

If the Celts have to now clear cap space for Hayward, Crowder looks like the guy on the move. Other teams want him. Maybe send him to Atlanta. He’s from around there.

Bradley should be the guy the C’s ask for the bank in a trade, and no one wants Smart.

          Knicks supposedly want Smart

the larger point to be taken from all of this is that Celtics fans drastically over-rate their players (obviously). The front office is dangling Crowder, Smart, and Bradley and it doesn’t appear that other teams are beating down their doors.

Tatum looks very good in the summer league…do yourself a favor and watch his game high-lights on nba.com. 23 and 10 yesterday. Knocked down a couple 3’s and had a nice put back dunk. He looks smooth…..J B Smoove

The C’s disease..2 guards and small forwards…oh yeah, big guys that don’t like to get bumped….so drift to the 3 line.

OK, I get it..it’s a different game, kindler, gentler, eurotrash.. but WTF…6’11” guys play small and let an athletic 6’1″ point guard take it to the rack untouched?

Too much money involved today. The stars tell owners where they want to play and what they want to do.

What don’t you get? Danny knows we’re not going to beat GS or Cleveland with or without jimmy butler. That’s why he’s preserving all of his actual assets (high picks, Jaylen Brown) and not pissing them away for someone like Butler who still wouldn’t get us over the hump but set us back 5 years in assets

NBA is unwatchable. Playground ball – no D – no team play. Lazy, gutless “superstars” playing for their next endorsement.

That’s why Ainge is no good in this (sad) era – he’s trying to build a team that would compete in the ’80’s.

It’s too bad Anthony Davis likely asking price would be too high.
