A few weeks back we wrote about this turtle riding family who was being harassed by a failed mayoral candidate in Fitchburg. Not only was the father, Andrew Petit, accused of being “Turtleboy,” but his precious little children were also posted alongside these false rants and accusations:

Well yesterday this family of six was back in the news again, after their son was apparently almost kidnapped while trying to get off the school bus. Andrew’s wife Emily posted this on the Facebook machine:

Freaking Worcester man. Please Joe Petty, tell me more about how safe our streets are. Meanwhile we have crackheads trying to kidnap little kids in broad daylight. Insane.

This incident brings me back to the infamous Busgate incident of September 2014. Very similar circumstances. Remember when that one All-Star parent wanted to get her kid off the bus first, and when she found out this was not the procedure she tried boarding the bus, forcing the driver to lock it down. Next thing you know this happened:

Savages. That video never gets old.

But in both situations the driver followed procedure to ensure the safety of the children. The only difference is that this driver actually got to deal with normal, functioning members of society (the Petit parents), instead of the Vernon Hill book club.

All I gotta say is, we have some pretty underrated bus drivers and bus monitors in Worcester, don’t we? I mean, every single day they load those suckers up with kids who are all hopped up on sugar and ritalin, with no seatbelts, and yet they all make it home in one piece. It’s a miracle.

These people probably have to deal with so much bullshit on a daily basis, and yet none of them gets the credit they deserve for it. We entrust these strangers with our most valuable resources on a daily basis – our children, and they seemingly never let us down. Stuff like this probably happens more often than you realize.

And some of these kids are being raised by animals. Literally animals. And it’s up to the bus drivers and bus monitors to make sure they get home safe each and every day. And what do they get from the some of these “parents” for ensuring the safety of the children? This:

Back in my day you didn’t have to show ID to pick up kids off the bus. Whoever was there was who you went home with and that was the end of that. If you got kidnapped it was just part of growing up. Made you a man. But of course this was before Criminal Minds became a hit TV show and now we have a bunch of twisted psychopaths trying to nab children off of school buses.

We are just happy that everyone in the Petit family is OK. They are amazing people and hard working contributing members of society. Check out our Facebook page sometime. Emily always leaves some of the best comments that get the most likes because she’s awesome.
