The worst boycott in world history continued today when local ACLU hack Chris Robarge sent more harassing emails to all of our sponsors. Ya got that? The guy who heads an organization based on free speech is butthurt because of free speech. Classic ACLU.
Anyway, as part of our Support the Sponsors campaign here at Turtleboy Sports we’re making it our mission to promote the pants off of these quality local establishments. Because that’s what we do here. We support local businesses, not attack them viciously like the frauds over at “Coming Together Collective.” Because the mere fact that your business partners with Turtleboy Sports tells me three things. 1) You support common sense. 2) You support freedom and don’t give into bullies. 3) You welcome more business and realize you’re pissing your hard-earned ad budget away by wasting it in a rag like the Telegram and Gazette.
So Mrs. Turtleboy and I went out to Bennie’s Cafe on East Mountain Street – one of our newest sponsors. The whole Burncoat area might as well be Mongolia to us, so I had no idea this place was such a classic Worcester establishment. And let me tell ya – Bennie’s Cafe is so Worcester I can’t get enough of it. It’s like a mixture of Coney Island Hot Dogs and the Blarney Stone but without some girl taking a dump in the guy’s bathroom. It’s got the Coney Island-style booths
Complete with the magical self-serve popcorn machine and accompanying Keno game:
The moment you walked in there you’re greeted by a bunch friendly sons of bitches who’ve been coming there for years:
So you know it’s not one of those fancy-shmancy places that spends more time trying to make your meal look fancy instead of investing that time in sweet, American deliciousness. Our waitress was one of the friendliest Worcester women I’ve ever met. She had no idea we were there undercover for Turtleboy, but she still recited the specials, gave us a bunch of suggestions, and did it all with a smile. She highly recommended for Mrs. Turtleboy this shmorgisborg of a taco wrap up:
Tell me you don’t wanna destroy that thing right now. You can’t. It’s impossible.
For me though, I’m a Rueben Sandwich guy. It’s just what I order if you have it on the menu. I judge a restaurant by the quality of their Reuben. They made it for me with half pastrami and half corned beef too. Needless to say Bennie’s Rueben Sandwich was borderline orgasmic:
Some of these places try to sheist you out with the meat by stuffing a bunch of sauerkraut in it. Not Bennie’s though. Imagine wrapping your lips around this bad boy right now as you sit in your cubicle, ride into work on the train, or take your morning smash:
I absolutely demolished that thing, but Mrs. Turtleboy had to surrender a little more than half way through:
Look, we don’t promote businesses we don’t believe in. If we think your business sucks we don’t pursue you. If your place of business isn’t up to Turtleboy standards then you can go and advertise in the Telegram so you can pay for old man Carlo Baldino’s pills. All we’re looking for in our sponsors are two things – a quality product and strong ties to the community. That’s it. I’ll be going to Bennie’s a LOT more often now and I highly suggest that you do the same.
Bennie’s cafe stands with freedom. Stand with Bennie’s Cafe.

As there are such a lot of Binary Choices Brokers offering their providers to traders from all over the world, you actually ought to spend as much time as is required researching simply which Dealer or brokers you sign as much
as and open an account at.
Been going there since it was P.J.’s Lounge about a hundred years ago. It was cool back then and it is still cool now. Also a great place to watch a big game. Plenty of 50″+ Samsungs behind the high up.
I really hope nobody eats a Reuben while taking a smash O.o
Back in the early aughts when me and my partners in crime were in our early 20s, Bennies used to be one our favorite spots for work night beveraging. Haven’t been there in years, but I think Mrs. Worcester Masshole might need to be introduced to the pure awesomeness that is Bennies this very weekend.
In Soviet Russia, rueben sandwich eats you.
In his T and G blog, Carlo stated 2 sponsors pulled advertising from Turtleboy. If true, who are they so we can let them know how disappointed we are.
I’ve always meant to stop in and try the place. Thanks to that taco wrap, it will happen sooner than later.
I’m a frequent Bennie’s customer and can tell you they have the BEST wings around…they grill them instead of frying them and O.M.G. Sooooooo good!!! All their food is homemade too, none of that frozen crap most other places have. Their Roast Beef on Thursdays is to die for too. Like their page on FB and you can see the daily specials in your feed….I work a few doors down, so I literally get lunch from there almost daily. And their prices can’t be beat….2 thumbs up in my opinion!
Love bennies- I go there with my mom or cousin. Love the Reuben too
I may have moved far away from Worcester and New England, but I was always a big fan of Bennie’s while I still lived there. I always try to go there for lunch at least once when I come home to visit. Good choice of sponsor!
…that reuben looks awesome. Will work it into a trip this weekend.
I will make it my business to head to Bennie’s for lunch this week
My list of sponsors to revisit or visit for the first time keeps growing.
That looks pretty good. Thanks for the rundown. I’ll be making a point to stop by these establishments over the next few weeks.
I’ll be visiting the Union Tavern this weekend just because they advertise here.
Thanks for posting this. Love trying new places and if it supports TB and at the same time tells hippies they suck, all the better for it!!!
I can confirm, solid establishment! Would eat there 10/10
