Back in September NSTB wrote this blog about the Medway Police Chief writing a letter to the Dysfunctional Veterans Facebook page, demanding to know who in their organization sent a baby of candy dicks to Medway Town Hall.
It’s funny because 1) dicks, and 2) old people on the Internet.
DV of course responded by sending more dicks to the police chief. I started following them after that because I appreciate good comedy, and they also do a lot of great work for veterans. Naturally the Facebook overlords saw people having fun without their approval and had to put an end to it:
Dysfunction Veterans, a Facebook page run by Michael Rivers, himself a veteran, was banned from Facebook for allegedly violating its content policies regarding firearms. Speaking to Big League Politics, Rivers explained that his page was banned for buying ads on Facebook to promote a contest where entries could win an AR-15 rifle, even though according to the letter of Facebook’s community guidelines, his promotion was following Facebook’s rules.
“We do try to stay within Facebook’s guidelines, they just make them up as they go along,” said Rivers. “We ran a contest, a promo to give away an AR-15. It was a licensed firearms company, and we are an online retailer. According to Facebook rules, it’s okay because we are two online retailers that follow all applicable state and federal guidelines.”
He went on to explain that 8 days into the advertisement, which was approved by Facebook, they removed the advertisement and banned the staff member who posted it for 30 days. Rivers immediately ended the advertisement and removed all reference of it from the page, but Facebook proceeded to ban members of his staff two more times for the same, deleted advertisement.
Facebook’s terms of service say that you can’t sell guns using their platform, which is fine because that’s a pretty black and white rule to follow. But yet they accepted DV’s money for an ad and ran it for 8 days before deciding that DV should be punished for an ad that FACEBOOK APPROVED!!
It gets worse….
“They banned us again for the same exact thing,” said Rivers. “So again, we appealed it, and then yesterday the page was unpublished and they cited the same thing again.”
“We had ended the promo last month, midway through it. After two or three weeks of not running it, they banned us for the same advertisement.”
They took the ad the down, including all references to it, and continued to get punished. I’d say I’m surprised but this has happened to us a whole bunch of times. We’ve had pages unpublished, appealed them, and gotten them back many times. One page (Turtleboy Refugees) was unpublished, then republished, then unpublished again six different times. One time, while we appealed it and were waiting to get a reply back, we were informed that our profile picture violated their community standards, even though THE PAGE WAS NO LONGER PUBLISHED!! This was the profile picture in question.
After that the page was permanently unpublished.
We invented Facebook censorship. All these people whining about it now did nothing for us, and certainly didn’t speak out on our behalf, because they figured it would never happen to them. Believe me, if you post anything that is even remotely conservative on your page, you could be next. Don’t worry though, we’ll stand up for you.
I laughed at this:
Rivers says he appealed the latest ban and supplied Facebook with relevant excerpts from their own community guidelines as evidence his page did nothing wrong. He is currently waiting to hear back from the big tech platform.
Yea bruh, no one actually works at Facebook so they definitely will not be getting back to you. If you can get Donald Trump Jr. or Candace Owens to tweet about it you might have a chance, because that’s pretty much the only thing they respond to – widespread conservative outrage led by famous people with large platforms.
This is what Facebook got rid of by taking them down:
In addition to selling merchandise via the Dysfunction Veterans online store, Rivers also runs a non-profit organization focused on providing housing to homeless veterans, DV Farm, that sometimes receives cash injections from the profits made from the Dysfunctional Veterans retail operation. Rivers provides housing and support to up to five homeless veterans at a time, and says his organization focuses on the “problem child” cases that are ignored by the Veterans Administration and other veterans organizations.
Fuck you homeless vets!!
This has happened to them before:
Rivers also revealed that a similar incident happened in the days before the 2016 presidential election. His page was removed by Facebook without an explanation, and after other veterans who are now CEO’s and prominent business individuals reached out to Facebook on Rivers’ behalf, the page was reinstated. Rivers still has no idea why his page was removed, or why it was reinstated.
“In the last few days before the voting started, we were on fire. Every meme we posted was reaching millions,” said Rivers. “And we were shut down, and of course they would not show us what we posted that violated the community guidelines.”
What’s that called? Oh right – election meddling. But pussy Vichy “conservatives” will tell you that this is “muh free market,” and if you don’t like it you should “build your own Internet.”
These people should be told to fuck off and publicly mocked. These are peacetime, Neville Chamberlain conservatives who don’t get that there is a war going on right now – the war for platform access. Giving Austria to Hitler didn’t stop him from invading France. And these “free market” conservatives, who believe that monopolies that control the dissemination of information to billions of people are at all consistent with a free market economy, think they’re safe because they’re the “good conservatives.” Don’t worry assholes, you’re on their list too.
The idea that Facebook is some sort of private platform that shouldn’t be regulated is laughable. People who say that don’t understand how the Internet or democracy works in the digital age. DV has the ability to reach millions of people and share content and opinions that could sway people to vote for Trump in 2020. That’s why Facebook took them down, and why they’ll continue to take down pages like them while Vichy conservatives convince themselves that this is a good thing.

Hello Turtle Riders. As you know if you follow Turtleboy we are constantly getting censored and banned by Facebook for what are clearly not violations of their terms of service. Twitter has done the same, and trolls mass reported our blog to Google AdSense thousands of times, leading to demonitization. We can get by and survive, but we could really use your help.
