Exactly what crimes do you have to commit in Brockton to receive significant jail time?!?! We have seen drug-dealers with multiple offenses, attempted murderers, domestic abusers, and gun dealers all roaming the streets again this summer after getting a slap on the wrists by the Brockton court system.  Of course many of these career criminals get arrested once again for committing dangerous crimes almost immediately after they are released from jail – if they serve any jail time at all.

However, this here is the most despicable, egregious case I have heard yet concerning the justice system being too lenient. Meet Mr. Anthony Bunton. This 52-year-old from the City of Champions was indicted by a Plymouth County Grand Jury on Friday.  He was charged with six counts of possession of child pornography, Plymouth County District Attorney Timothy J. Cruz said.  As part of an ongoing investigation, State Police obtained a search warrant for Bunton’s cell phone. Further investigation of the phone revealed that Bunton had images of children who appear to under the age of 15 years-old.

Oh but wait it gets even worse.

Bunton was arraigned in December of last year at Brockton District Court and ordered held on $100,000 bail. He was charged with assault to murder and aggravated rape.

A 24-year-old Brockton woman was beaten with a baseball bat and raped behind a North Montello Street building, court documents show. Partially clothed and bleeding from her head, the victim darted out into the road in front of an ambulance on North Montello Street desperately seeking help.  She would later be hospitalized for wounds that required 400 stitches! Three days after the attack, police arrested Bunton. During an interview with police at the Brockton police station, Bunton admitted to smoking crack cocaine and assaulting the woman.

This crack-smoking, woman-beating rapist that smashed a woman’s head with a baseball bat so severely that she required FOUR HUNDRED stitches, is back on the streets in less than 8 months?!?! Was this his first violent sexual offense?! Of course not.

Bunton had “a significant record of convictions and commitments for crimes of violence.” He has long been a registered Level 3 sex offender who was convicted TWICE already of sex crimes.  Bunton was found guilty of rape in 1987 and was found guilty of indecent assault and battery on a person aged 14 or older in 1982, according to the Sex Offender Registry Board’s website.

The body of Ashley Mylett, 20, was found in Brockton several months ago.  A serial killer is suspected, but no arrests have been made.

It’s difficult to understand how people like this end up back on the street so quickly after committing such horrific crimes.  The same streets that you and your children walk down are shared by extremely dangerous criminals/pedophiles like Anthony Bunton.  I’m no Sherlock Holmes, but there have been multiple unsolved murders of women in Brockton recently. Does anyone think the culprit might be Anthony Bunton?? Or should we just release him from prison again and watch the body count rise. Stay vigilant Brocktonians, as long as the justice system consistently isn’t getting the job done, everyone needs to continue to watch their own backs.
