A few months ago taking down Robert E. Lee statues was all the rage. Well we sure moved from Robert E. Lee to Dr. Seuss rather quickly, because in light of the Cambridge Librarian who rejected free Dr. Seuss books from Melania Trump because they’re racist, three Northampton children’s book authors have joined the crusade by refusing to visit the Dr. Seuss museum in Springfield:

Three children’s book authors declined to take part in the Springfield Children’s Literature Festival at The Amazing World of Dr. Seuss Museum because of a mural there with a “jarring racial stereotype.”However, muse um officials noted the original artwork on which the mural was based was created 80 years ago, adding they would not “alter or edit an artist’s work.” The artwork appeared in Theodor Geisel’s first Dr. Seuss book, “And to Think That I Saw It on Mulberry Street,” which was published in 1937. Authors Mo Willems, Mike Curato and Lisa Yee of Northampton, who signed the letter and posted it on social media, said they found part of the mural “deeply hurtful” and would not attend the Oct. 14 event. (The festival has since been canceled.)

“… we recently learned that a key component of this institution honoring Dr. Seuss features a mural depicting a scene from his first book, ‘And to Think I Saw It on Mulberry Street,’ and within the selected  arts is a jarring racial stereotype of a Chinese man, who is depicted with chopsticks, a pointed hat, and slanted slit eyes. We find this caricature of ‘the Chinaman’ deeply hurtful, and have concerns about children’s exposure to it.”

The character is described by Seuss in the 1937 book as “a Chinese boy who eats with sticks.” Springfield Museums officials said they offered to meet with Willems, Curato and Yee, but they declined.

See that letter right there? That is the very textbook definition of virtue signaling. A white guy named Mo Williams sharing on social media a letter he wrote about how he’s offended on behalf of Asian people.

And they’re only doing this because they wanted to one up that idiot librarian in Cambridge who virtue signaled to Melania Trump by telling her that Dr. Seuss is racist.

If you don’t wanna go because you’re offended, then just don’t go. But that’s not what these people are all about. They feel the need to broadcast this shit on social media so they can get pats on the back from SJWs far and wide. And that’s exactly what they’re getting:

Marginalized individuals? We’re talking about Asian people here. The ethnic group that proudly boasts the highest college graduation rates and per capita income in this amazing country we are blessed to live in.

The one group of people that refuses to be victimized. The one group of people that doesn’t use identity politics to get their way. The group that far and wide values discipline, respect for adults, and education, more than any other group.

This is what “marginalized” looks like in 2017.

Speaking of virtue signaling:

“On behalf of children everywhere.”

This woman right here has earned the right to speak on behalf of children everywhere:

She is taking offense on their behalf.

See that letter? That’s the reason Donald Trump is President right now, and if they keep this up it will be the reason we will watch Barron Trump go from an innocent 10 year old boy to an 18 year old man living in the White House who will make the Bush twins seem like alter girls.

These people cannot stop making liberals looks like idiots. And it’s sad because most liberals aren’t actually like this. They just want the government to tax the rich more, stop taking away union rights, and keep religion out of politics. At least that’s what they used to want. Now they wanna protest everything and stop kids from reading Dr. Seuss, lest they be triggered by the site of a 1937 cartoon.

“It is obviously offensive in 2017,” the virtue signaling letter reads. Yea, that’s generally how history works. Societal values change over time. More than likely their crappy books will be viewed as racist 100 years from now. Ya know what else is offensive in 2017? Slavery and the Holocaust. Guess the Holocaust museum should be closed, Twelve Years a Slave and Schindler’s List should be banned from Netflix, and we should have book burnings of The Diary of Anne Frank. After all, those were not pretty pictures of world history. Therefore they should be ignored and we should pretend they never existed.

Their beef is that the museum is saying that it’s the responsible of VIEWERS to contextualize the artwork, rather than the museum’s job to explain it. Wait…..what? So when I go to the Holocaust museum, it’s their job to tell me that putting Jews in gas chambers is bad? I can’t figure that out on my own? So basically social justice warriors operate under the assumption that we are all inherently morons. Gotcha.

Oh and by the way, it’s a freaking CARICATURE!!! By its very definition it is meant to exaggerate physical characteristics of the person it is drawn of:

And did I miss the offensive part? Do Chinese people not use chopsticks? Do they not generally have more slanted eyes than other groups of people? Do they not wear different styles of clothing than Americans do? Isn’t this EXACTLY what SJWs have been pushing for by resisting attempts to assimilate and instead celebrating multiculturalism? But because it’s a cartoon this is offensive? What would be a better depiction of Chinese people in 1937? Should they have afros and wear dashikis? Sweet Jesus, someone get these losers a safe space.

Lisa Yee is a disgrace to Asian people.

And I can say that as a person who grew up around lots of AWESOME Asian people. Like I said, no one rejects identity politics and self-victimization as well as Asian people do. Lisa Yee is what happens when a member of a proud and strong group of people moves to Northampton. Oh, and Lisa, this is kind of offensive too:

Junkie is an offensive term that stigmatizes people who have the “disease.” I am offended on behalf of drug addicts everywhere.

She also shared this photo:

Which clearly depicts an Asian girl dressed in (gasp) traditional Asian clothing. Ya know, like Dr. Seuss did in 1937.

This is Mike Curato:

As you can see as a gay Asian man in Northampton, he is VERY marginalized. Because no one has it harder than gay people or Asians in Massachusetts. It’s not like those two groups of people are doing well for themselves as a whole and have climbed the socioeconomic ladder faster than anyone else.

By the way Mike, this offends:

I pity the fool who doesn’t understand that Mr. T is an offensive caricature of black people. It’s also offensive to horses since unicorns appropriate their culture.

But guess what? They won:

Yup, the mural is coming down. These gutless cowards gave in to these three ragtags from Northampton who no one has ever heard of before, because they whined about imaginary racism. If I was the boycotting type I’d say I’m boycotting this place now. But the fact of the matter is I was never going in the first place and I got a lot of shit to do so I just don’t have the time for a boycott. That’s what separates us from the SJWs – we got grown up shit to do, so we don’t have time to protest every thing that offends us.

Anyway, children’s books are a scam anyway. I read them to my kids all the time, and for the most part I marvel at the fact that people with such little talent are able to make so much money printing these books that have 50 words combined in the 25 pages. Literally ANYONE can write children’s books. It’s the least talented profession that has ever existed. So at the end of the day three untalented SJWs threw a tantrum about an innocent cartoon in a historical museum and the gutless museum caved to them. This is everything that is wrong with society, and the main reason Trump’s probably gonna win again in 2020.

seuss himself admitted his ancient stuff was hella racist

such as the one just posted on the turtleboy Facebook machine
reading “TAKE HOME A HIGH GRADE (N word here) for your WOODPILE
(SATISFACTION GUARANTEED” with black people with huge red lips

    to which turtleboy sports responded,

“Oh look, dr Seuss pointing out the ridiculousness of racism through caricature. You’re not good at this frank. Try again”

last year I studied Seuss racist cartoons from earlier in his career and they are racist as fuck, particularly against blacks but ofc asians too

but those were the olden days, we were younger and dumber as a nation

now we can just look, gasp, and laugh

It’s not racist…it’s more a stereotype but SJW’s never take any real classes in college so they wouldn’t know that.

I see 3 shitty “artists” that nobody cares about trying to capitalize on good ole Dr Seuss to get their garbage some recognition.

That’s why they’re putting their letter out there for the whole world to see.

    To bring attention to themselves.

Isn’t it just as racist to say that Chinese people don’t eat with chopsticks? Wait…… Is it considered cultural appropriation if I eat with them? How about fortune cookies? Should I be eating them in front of my kids?

…as a parent of a seven year old who is from the same area as these authors, I promise you she will never read any of thier stories. The are doing nothing but publically encouraging divisivenes…
…this was the way life was 80 years ago…it was normal. Wrong? Yes!
But it is a reflection of that period of history. But also think of all the positive dialog/discussion/lessons Dr Seuss opened. A American institution and hero to say the least.
I will not raise my children in a environment that thinks they can unwrite history. I will teach them what history was so they will chose to help make sure parts of it never happens again. Someday this period of time will be judged. And I fear we will be remembered as the most hateful and divisive time period yet.

Chopsticks have been the predominant eating utensil for over 3,000 years (and probably longer) in the far east. The earliest chopstick discovered by archaeologists dates to 1,200 BC in China. So, how exactly is it “racist” to show chinamen using chopsticks, they invented the damn things.

This is so stupid. Most children like Dr. Seuss. It is not meant to offend, but entertain. Then again, it is all about being P.C. Sad.
