One Of Three Convicted Murderers Who Killed Paxton Police Chief Robert Mortell In 1994 Shows That He’s Still A Huge Piece Of Shit At Parole Hearing

One of the things that I most vividly remember as a 90’s Worcester child was the assassination of Paxton Police Chief Robert Mortell in February of 1994. Three career shitheads were breaking into houses in Holden when their stolen minivan got stuck in the snow on dead end Kendall Road. From there they hijacked a DPW truck at gunpoint, but being the bumbling idiots they are the three stooges got that truck stuck in a snowbank too. From that point they took off on foot, crossed a frozen reservoir and ended up on Route 31, which takes you into Paxton.
Chief Mortell got the call and provided backup from neighboring Paxton. He arrived on the truck in the snow, saw the suspects crossing Route 31 (because these idiots decided not to stay in the woods for some reason), and pursued them into the woods. Michael Souza shot and fatally wounded him, while his coconspirators Jamie Richards and Kenneth Padgett fled. Souza was arrested shortly afterwards while Richards and Padgett spent the night in an abandoned shack in the Cascades park.
(Yes, one of the trooper’s in this photo was assassinated months later on a routine traffic stop in Kingston, by another asshole who was given a lenient sentence for killing someone else. Some things never change in this state.)
Souza got life without parole, while Padgett and Richards both got life with the possibility of parole. Padgett’s been denied twice, and Richards had his day today. Keep in mind, he’s been in the can for 23 years. He’s had nothing but time to sit and think about the pain he’s caused to Chief Mortell’s widow, and his children who were 11 and 8 at the time of his murder. More than anything you’d think that someone who’s been in prison for that long would be itching to get out. I’d assume that even if they weren’t repentant they’d at least pretend to be in front of the parole board. Ya know, because it’s worth a shot if you think you can shmooze your way out of jail.
But apparently this asshole enjoys prison, because he put one of the most insane displays of fucker I’ve ever seen at his hearing:
“How did you prepare for this hearing today?”
A normal person says something to the effect of, “I thought about what I did a lot, and I thought about how I’d face the family who I caused so much pain towards.” Not this dipshit though. This was his answer:
“I didn’t.”
In other words, this was just a nice day for a car ride. He hasn’t been on one of those since the Clinton administration.
“If this is who you are today, I have concerns about who you’ll be out in the community. And how you’re gonna be interacting with the parole officers and people in the community.”
Once again, this would’ve been a great time to say, “I’m not gonna be a problem when I’m released. I was young and stupid at the time, and I just wanna get a second chance to redeem myself in civilized society.” Instead he said this:
“Well, you’ve spent 45 minutes wit(h) me, so I suppose that would be an accurate assessment of who I am.”
What a fucking piece of work this fudgenut is.
Then FINALLY they decided to give him one last chance, because he hadn’t made it abundantly clear already that he preferred life in a prison cell:
“This is an opportunity for you if you would like to say something to the board for you to do so.”
Keep in mind a grown woman who was robbed of a father at the age of 11, who never got to see her graduate from high school or meet his grandchildren, is sitting there just looking for some sign of remorse. It wouldn’t fix anything, but at least it would provide a small amount of closure to know that the person who took her father away understood the pain and damage he caused.
But because he’s selfish piece of human garbage who is clearly beyond redemption he said this:
“I’m all set.”
And they asked him again, and once again he said this:
“I’m all set.”
Why are we wasting time offering this guy parole he clearly does not want and is not deserving of? Why are we putting the Mortell family through this time and time again? He’ll be up for parole again soon and so will Padgett. Just let them rot away in prison instead of giving them these field trips to Natick at the taxpayer’s expense.
We urge you to support the following local businesses. They provide terrific services for the community!

Stick this douche back in the hole.
Those board members appear to be open minded group and his best chance at seeing daylight.
Too stupid to be trusted on the outside.
I was neighbors with Souza’s parents when I was a kid. I remember his mother being a lunatic always screaming at the top of her lungs about something
This person should not even be considered for parole. Too bad he wasn’t shot in a similar manner as the loser who murdered the Auburn police officer.
Shocked that the MSM cast this guy in a negative (honest) light. They’re usually trying to cover up for criminals while bleating for “Justice”.
What an insult well at least everyone knows exactly what he is and always will be. He didn’t care then and doesn’t now i thank him for being honest because it will hopefully keep his ass inside unless some SJW releases him instead.
Looks like he’s morphing into Sammy Gravano.
They should have shot them instead of arresting them.
Like Whore-Hey. Shot in the D*ck!
This unholy piece of assfuck knows damn well that being a hero in prison is far better than being a target on the outside. Guarantee that was his game plan the whole time. The police presence at that hearing alone ‘MAY’ confirm this.
“The police presence at that hearing alone ‘MAY’ confirm this.”
My meaning – A taste of what he can expect if released. Any case like this you will always have a strong family of the victim and police presence at these hearings as it should be. That was not meant to suggest that LE is going to be up his ass if he be granted parole beyond any other Murder case not involving a Police Officer. If he was released would he be on the LE radar? Yes. Just like any other parolee that was convicted in a joint venture regarding a Murder case. This is an example of ‘All Lives Matter.’
Clinton Administration made me laugh. Thank God that was only one. That being said all states should have death penalty brought back and slow and painful ones at that
I’m a firm believer that prison should be like it was in the old days, 14 hours of hard labor, I don’t care if it’s moving large rocks from one place to another for no reason, bread and water twice daily, and the death penalty done swiftly, not 20 or 30 years later. Thanks to SJW’s everywhere we have to care about these people and their civil rights, it’s too cruel to treat them like the animals they are. Think they cared about their victims for one second? What about victims rights?
Couldn’t agree more. This fuck just wants to get back to his cable tv, 3 square meals room and board. Much easier than working for a living.
Monsters are real and this is just one of many. I feel awful for that poor family that had to sit through that.
A slight correction — Chief Mortell had three children, Amy, Erin and Ellliot. I saw Erin on tv last night, and she said just about the same thing I said to my husband about this — this loser only wanted a day out of jail. (She said “field trip”, but it’s the same thing.)
We really need to bring back the death penalty, particularly for cop-killers
To make that happen, the good people of Massachusetts need to stop voting the same soft-on-crime liberals and progressives back into office, time after time, election after election. So what if “Duh, he has more experience,” or “Well, she’s been in office for years.” Years of experienced rachetry up on Bacon Hill is what got us where we are today!
Love those pics of the old school State Police. Those guys used to be feared and respected. But now thanks to liberal politicians and policies they have been castrated. Its a shame really.
Maybe the guy is just realistic, they aren’t going to let him out even if he rolled over and did tricks for them like a good boy. They shouldn’t let him out.
