Tragic story out of Lowell: A 26-year-old Everett man is facing charges after allegedly racing another car in Lowell, veering off the road and fatally striking two pedestrians, officials said. Tyriek Brown was driving a black Ford Mustang around 6:30 p.m. Thursday in the westbound travel lane of Pawtucket Boulevard when the Mustang went off the road and struck the pedestrians, according to the office of Middlesex District Attorney Marian Ryan. The pedestrians have been identified as Jose Medina, 66, and Fernanda Medina, 62, of Lowell, Ryan’s office said in a statement Friday morning. Speed was a factor in the crash, the district attorney’s office said. Brown was arrested late Thursday night and has been charged with motor vehicle homicide and manslaughter. He will be arraigned telephonically in Lowell District Court on Friday and is being held pending that arraignment, Ryan’s office said. Brown was also taken to the hospital. He had injuries that were not considered life-threatening, according to the district attorney’s office. The other car allegedly racing with Brown drove off following the crash, the statement said. Investigators want to speak with that driver.
Two pedestrians are dead and the driver that hit them was also taken to Lowell General Hospital after a Ford Mustang went out of control on Pawtucket Boulevard in Lowell near the Tyngsboro town line on Thursday evening.

Those in the car, 25-year-old Tyriek Brown of Everett and 24-year-old Jalen Felix of North Attleboro, were arrested. Both are charged with possession with intent to distribute a Class B drug. Brown is facing additional charges including carrying a loaded firearm without a license, possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony, carrying a firearm on a public way, and receiving stolen property less than $1,200.
This was a year ago. Why is he not in jail where he belongs? It’s not like he doesn’t have prior gun convictions:
Oh look a “sentence” of 2.5 years in jail, that isn’t really a sentence because it’s “suspended.” For gun charges and driving without a license. Shocking that someone like this would keep playing around with guns, and drugs, and driving like an asshole.
Whoever the judge is that let him off the hook on the gun charges last year now has blood on their hands. Our judicial system failed to do the job it exists to do both Jose and Fernanda Medina had to die, because they wanted to take a walk together at 6:30 on a nice spring day.
