Masslive: A prosecutor and defense lawyer on Monday set July 25 as a date for a guilty plea in the case of Jomaris Colon, charged with the March 2015 hit-and-run crash that left Agawam teenager Alex Scafuri paralyzed from the chest down. Colon’s case was on for an evidentiary hearing Monday but defense lawyer Dale E. Bass and Assistant District Attorney Robert A. Schmidt asked Hampden Superior Court Judge Constance M. Sweeney to instead set a disposition date of July 25.
That means Colon is slated to admit to charges that day, but it was not stated to what she would plead guilty or if there was an agreement about sentence. Colon has pleaded not guilty to operating under the influence of liquor, leaving the scene of a personal injury accident, negligent operation of a motor vehicle and unlicensed operation. Scafuri, 16 at the time, was skateboarding home from volleyball tryouts around 9 p.m. on March 16, 2015, in the area of Rowley and Springfield streets in Agawam when he was hit by Colon’s car, according to police.

Sucks to read stories like this. A 16 year old minding his own business on his way home from school and some drunkard hits him and now he can’t walk again. Just awful.
Somehow this moron got $2,000 bail, which she quickly violated in November of 2015. And yet a judge thought it would be wise in February to make sure she was released on bail again!!!
And this lady obviously isn’t too bright. The day she hit this poor kid and left him for dead she went back to her home across the river in Springfield. But instead of just keeping a low profile, guess what she did? She called the cops on her boyfriend!! And wouldn’t ya know it, when they got to her crib she realized that she forgot to clean the kid’s blood off her car:
Schmidt said when an officer was at her home he saw a car with damage like what may have occurred in a hit and run crash being investigated. Colon told the officer the damage was from potholes in Springfield.
The damage included “an imprint basically of a person, blood,” Schmidt said.
Yea, that was a smart move Jomaris. Next time you run a kid over you might wanna give it a quick scrubbing before calling the cops. Or even just wait a few days. Whatever you do don’t call them up the very next day and have them come over your house.

She still wants to go out and hit up the town with the girls
She’s proud of the fact that she’s sober, but fails to point out that the alternative is jail
She wants people to contact the news to help out with her sentencing
She posts about other tragedies as if she has any sort of compassion of other human beings
She wants you to attend the “stop the violence” rally
And she doesn’t like kids who have “no respect”
While she was posting about how unfair the justice system is, and how much of an impact this tragedy has had no her, she never once has mentioned the impact that her actions had on Alex Scafuri. A young man whose freedom was stolen from him on that day in March of 2015. She hasn’t mentioned anything about feeling sorry for him or his family, but she’s posted plenty of times about why people should feel bad for her. Yet this guy has persevered through it and seems to have an amazing girlfriend who helps him out a lot:
I don’t know what the appropriate punishment is, but Jomaris Colon obviously needs to go to jail for a while. More than anything because she needs to feel remorse. She needs to understand the impact her actions had on this young man and his family. Let’s hope the judge holds her accountable for the first time in her life.

I read some things in the Agawam Forum about Jomaris and the illegal activities STILL going on in her apartment in Brady Village. She isn’t sorry, just sorry she got caught.
If she had publicly apologized to Alex and his family afterwords and if she changed her life and actions afterwords, would I feel an ounce of hope for her – but it has been “me me me” since this accident happened. Poor Jomaris – Poor Jomaris – What about Poor Alex?
Jamaris Colon was comfortable (& confident) with a “Not Guilty” plea. She was all set, so she thought. That all changed in April when the judge ruled the prosecutor could take her DNA. Ms Colon saw the writing on the wall, now a plea date for July. I hope they throw the book at this unrepentant mooch.
What were they going to use her DNA for? That’s the thing I was confused about in all that…
@Angela, I can’t be sure but I’m assuming the DA asked for Colon’s DNA because of the defense she planned to assert. Maybe something along the lines, “I wasn’t driving..” & blood could prove she was lying. The stuff some defendants come up with is insane but they can & they do..(ex. Jodi Arias)
I agree with everything you said she shows no remorse! Hats a crime in it self! This poor kid has more guts in his little finger then she does! One thing though that’s not a pipe she’s complaining about not getting enough of its a eggplant which is used to symbolize a man’s genitals so apparently not enough sex! Makes me sick think about this young man and how he can’t feel from chest down! God bless him and his family!

This is a horrible article, taking and picking pieces of personal information off someone’s facebook and meshing them together into this degrading post. People will judge all they want from afar only hearing the story from the media and never getting to know the woman involved, being dragged through the mud. The accident was a tragedy but this public spectacle enticing hatred and bile comments is unnecessary. You have no evidence that she doesn’t feel guilty, that her life hasn’t been affected, but you poke fun at her praising God and staying sober?
