Last week we shared this story about a little kid whose hate was stolen ON CAMERA as he opened his birthday presents at a Framingham Papa Gino’s. We never caught the guy, probably because he jumped on the next train and pulled this scam in Syracuse or Utica. But the story has a very happy ending. The Bruins sent a bag for both little Preston and his big sister, including hats, posters, and signed pucks from Patrice Bergeron and Zdeno Chara:
The Bruins really are a first class organization. Too bad their coach is a first class moron who apparently has decided to excel in the art of choking away surefire playoff births. Last year’s three game skid to end the season was a joke. But this year they’ve managed to lose 9 of their last 12, including a HUGE win AT the St. Louis Blues last week.
Somehow last night they lost in a shootout. It happens. But the way they lost to a team that isn’t even sniffing the playoffs was simply unforgivable. The game went to a shootout, and after the first four shooters for both teams came up empty, Claude Julien decided to put Tory freaking Krug out there for his fifth shooter, instead of Brad Marchand, his leading goal scorer. Mind you Krug has not scored a goal in 54 straight games and has only three on the season. It’s like Claude is trying to lose, just to see if they have the minerals to fire him.
Anyway, they’re tied with Philadelphia and Detroit for the final two playoff spots. But the Bruins only have 2 games left, while Detroit has 3, and Philly has 4. Luckily we play Detroit at home Thursday night. Make no doubt about it – this game will decide Claude’s fate. If they can’t beat this Detroit team, which really isn’t that good, at home, in a backs to the wall must-win situation, then Claude ain’t the guy to coach this team going forward. Thanks for the Stanley Cup, but we’re moving in on pal.
Anyway, I have faith that little Preston here is their lucky charm. He just needed to get his hat back. Now that he’s all pimped out in Bruins gear I just can’t imagine a situation in which we don’t win tomorrow night. The playoffs are so much better when the Bruins are in them.
