Last month we blogged about this fight at Greenfield High School in which 8 students were arrested after a police officer and several teachers were hit by students at around 7:30 AM as students were entering the high school. But instead of addressing the obvious problem with out of control student behavior, the Human Rights Commission held a meeting yesterday about the real problem – teachers and police. I shit you not, this happened in real life. Check out the Greenfield Human Rights Commission Facebook Page:
Greenfield Public Schools Superintendent Jordana Harper and Police Chief Robert Haigh Jr. spoke during the three-hour meeting to discuss an incident at the high school last month, sparked by a fight between two students, that led to the arrest and suspension of eight students. As a result, the commission voted to create a working group, to be established at next month’s meeting, to address issues of racism in the school system and community.
Hold on….racism? What the hell does racism have to do with 8 kids getting arrested for fighting? Just for the record, the students weren’t all black. Many were white. Not that it matters though, because when you get arrested for breaking the law it doesn’t matter what color your skin is. Rules are rules, and laws are laws. End of discussion.
Superintendent Jordana Harper also said that contrary to popular belief, educators at the high school do employ restorative justice practices and recently completed a training in January, which the school resource officer also attended. Restorative justice, she explained, focuses 80 percent of the time on dialogue and forming community relationships and 20 percent of the time on traditional forms of discipline. Students, she said, learn far better from conversations than they do from the consequences that result from an incident.
“Restorative justice” is the new PC buzzword for “Don’t punish people for shitty behavior.” Students learn better from “conversations” than they do from consequences? That might be the stupidest thing I’ve ever heard. And this is coming from someone who got in plenty of trouble in high school. Turtleboy was no stranger to the in-house suspension room. It taught me that rules are rules and breaking rules results in 7 hours of solitary confinement and leftover school lunch. God, I wish restorative justice was around back then. Must be so easy for sheisty kids to fake their way through these “conversations” instead of getting detentions or suspensions.
During the meeting, two members of the community presented Harper with a Black Lives Matter sign, wrapped in wrapping paper, as a way of thanking her for her commitment to the issue.
First of all, she should’ve turned it down. Black lives matter is a hate group that only focuses their attention on demeaning police officers. In no way, shape, or form have they showed any commitment to making black lives matter in urban areas. Oh yea, and there’s pretty much no black people in Greenfield or anywhere in Franklin County either, so more than likely this is just a bunch of white people trying to feel good about themselves.
‘We’re going to make sure that Greenfield becomes an example of equality, justice,' Human Rights Commission says. https://t.co/o5o0AFUKXt

Wait….that’s the superintendent? She looks like the girl from fourth period who reminded the teacher she forgot to collect the homework.
Rachel Silverman, the stepmother of one of the students who was arrested, called for a memorandum of understanding that would delineate how officers react during similar incidents at the schools. The memorandum, she said, should make it very clear that educators have the authority to decide who gets handcuffed.
Wait a minute, why are we listening to the stepmother of some out of control kid who got arrested in school? Clearly Rachel Silverman has failed as a parent, and now she wants to dictate how school resource officers do their job? This is real life? She wants teachers to decide who gets handcuffed? It’s not the teacher’s job to decide who gets arrested and who doesn’t. This is not what they are trained to do. This is why we have cops, dumbass.
“What this all comes down to for me in terms of preventing this from happening again is establishing guidelines in the form of a memorandum of understanding … that will very clearly delineate responsibility if the school calls the police or the police arrive on the campus for any reason,” she said.
You wanna know how we can prevent this from happening again? Tell your out of control child to stop acting like a savage. Raise them not to fight in school. Raise them to walk away from fights when they happen. Raise them not to hit teachers and police officers. Raise them to follow the rules. The burden of “preventing this from happening again” lies completely on YOUR shoulders Rachel Silverman, not with the school or the police.
Silverman added nobody is alleging the arrests were motivated directly by race, but said she believes racism pervades every institution on a systemic level, whether or not people realize it.
“We live in a society that is really saturated with racist imagery and a racist history,” she said. “That’s the place we’re operating within and we need to be aware of that at every turn.”
Oh really? And you would know this how? From living in white town USA? Stop changing the subject. Your white kid was arrested by a white cop for acting like a savage in an almost exclusively white school. What the fuck does racism have to do with ANYTHING???
This is Rachel Silverman speaking with the glasses on:
According to Pinterest she grows organic berries:
It simply does not get any whiter than that.
And why is this woman still talking? I’d be so embarrassed if Turtleboy Jr. ever got arrested at school for something like this. I’d bow my head in shame and he’d be grounded until he turned 18. Not Rachel Silverman though. She goes to town meetings and blames hardworking teachers and cops for her own failures.
Several members of the public also said during the meeting that the school system needs a more diverse staff, one that better reflects the student population.
What the fuck are these people smoking? You know what percentage of Greenfield is black? 1.34%!!!! Ya got that? They want a more diverse staff that better reflects the student population, which is the EXACT OPPOSITE of diverse.
This is the same bullshit that hippies in Worcester were whining about last year. Teachers are too white. Well guess what? The simple fact of the matter is that black people and hispanic people aren’t applying for teaching jobs. You cannot hire those who do not apply. And do you know why black and hispanic people aren’t applying for teaching jobs? Because you need a Master’s Degree to be a teacher. And minorities with Master’s degrees can command much high salaries in the private sector. So instead of working as a teacher where you have ungrateful assholes hitting you, and parents blaming you for your lack of “restorative justice,” qualified candidates of color are making double in the private sector and not dealing with all the bullshit that comes along with teaching.
But at least in Worcester this desire for a more diverse teaching staff SOMEWHAT made sense. Ya know, because we have black and brown people in Worcester. Greenfield is like, the WHITEST town in America, and they have white guilt “progressive” morons whining about the lack of black teachers. Hey you dolts, you purposely chose to live in an isolated white community. You don’t get to lecture other people about the importance of diversity.
“It would be a structural mechanism to bring in the schools, the police, citizens, Racial Justice Rising, social nonprofits — anybody who would be interested,” Chairman Lewis Metaxas said. “I sense a lot of interest.”
Oh this idiot again.
Just a reminder that Lewis Metaxas went to prison for defrauding his clients as a lawyer. He is disgraced and disbarred. So naturally he is the chairman of the Human Rights Commission in Greenfield.
Anyway, we know that there are people up in that area who feel the exact same way we do and are sick and tired of bullshit like this. But this is why Turtleboy exists – to let you know that you are not alone. Your feelings and opinions are completely normal, but you just so happen to be living in a bizarro world where cops get crucified for having confederate flags buried deep within their garage, and your neighbors use teach their adopted black children that cops are trying to kill them. It’s OK though, we will always have your back. This is why we fight. This is why you ride the Turtle.
P.S. For all you Western MA (and some Central MA) turtle riders, we will have a Turtleboy representative on the Bax and O’Brien morning show (on Rock 102.1 FM) tomorrow at 8:05. You can bet your biscuits this will be a topic of discussion.
We urge you to support the Turtleboy Sponsors by doing business with them. Without them none of this is possible. Click on any of them to check out their sites or Facebook pages.
