They Let Kids Out Of School For This?

Everyone’s been talking about snow this and snow that because allegedly we’re about to get buried again in Worcester. Lots of school districts, including the Worcester Public Schools, even released kids two hours early because of the pummeling we were about to receive. This is the storm:
What kind of weak sauce pussification is this? I’m never one to complain when schools err on the side of caution. But at least wait until school actually starts before sending them home. If it starts snowing, release the hounds. But if you announce the day before that they’re getting out early, you’r basically just having them come in for a few hours so you can meet the state mandated requirement for number of days in school.
Meanwhile this is what Kelley Square looks like because there’s Goddamn buses everywhere and some light rain:
People who don’t know how to drive in Kelley Square are the anti-christ. Just stay in Paxton where you belong. In their defense though, there’s probably a million bus stops within a half mile radius of Kelley Square, all of which were getting out at this exact time. Weak.

Let’s face it, schools have just been meeting the minimum state mandated number of hours for years. I hope Betsy Devos totally eliminates the federal department of education. The unfunded mandates and political correct treachery helps no kid and just serves to spend taxpayer’s money with little academic benefits. IMHO
I got to work today, called my boss and said, “So how about that 8 inches of snow, huh? Guy there’s less snow on the ground now than when the storm started!:
America fem thinking taking over logic. Not much is going on out-there today. Little bit, just a little hassle.
Hey, someone could get splashed from a puddle. Better safe than sorry 🙂
Don’t give a shit… Still ain’t sending any trucks… Roads are great here in Sturbridge…
Some Worcester buses are still out after 4pm. The predictions were for more sleet/freezing rain by that time frame. Plus – they need to factor in the stupid parents that can’t dress their kids in warm clothes/jackets.
But yeh …. Minnesota is laughing their butts off.
I rarely disagree with you, Turtleboy, but I do here. Parents with young kids, who need to be home when they get off the bus… need to know in advance if school is closing early.
Makes sense. And in hind sight they’re not going make the right call every single time but it’s better to err on the side of caution when it comes to the safety of the kids. Lots of kids have to walk home from bus stops, we don’t want people sliding into them from icy slippery roads that people are flying around on while they’re texting, not paying attention, and driving like douches because it “doesn’t look that bad” out.
