Masslive: By his own account, Jose Arroyo is a gang member and gun enthusiast with a grudge against the Springfield Police Department. “I’m going to sue you and make millions, you bitch ass cops,” Arroyo, 23, of Springfield, announced after being pulled over for riding his bicycle without a helmet on the wrong side of School Street on Aug. 24, according to the arrest report.
Something tells me this wasn’t the first time Jose Arroyo went bike riding without a helmet. Just sayin.
As a crowd gathered, Arroyo berated the officers for stopping him and warned they would lose their jobs and homes after he wins his lawsuit.
Hey Jose, I know a guy!!
Later, after being arrested, he threatened to shoot an officer if they cross paths “on the street or in Walmart,” the report said. “You’re all done; your kids will be sad when you’re gone,” Arroyo said.
In fairness, I’d just assume that if I went shopping at the Springfield Walmart I’d end up getting shot regardless.
The next morning, he pleaded not guilty in Springfield District Court to disorderly conduct and two counts of threatening to commit a crime. At the request of defense lawyer Matthew Hutchinson, Arroyo was released on personal recognizance. He was back in court again Tuesday, pleading not guilty to six new charges after he allegedly threatened to kill his mother, brother and girlfriend. Assistant District Attorney Cary Szafranski asked for $10,000 cash bail in the new case and requested that Arroyo’s bail be revoked in last week’s case. The defendant is a self-described member of the Bloods street gang with a history of drug and firearms convictions, the prosecutor said.
Obviously the gangsta life is paying dividends since this muffqueen since he’s not only living at home with Mom, but riding around town on his Huffy 10 speed. Life is good for this Puerto Rican Cindy Brady.
On Sept. 1, he got into an argument with his brother and threatened to kill him and their mother. Later, at his girlfriend’s apartment, he got into an argument with her and took off with her car, Szafranski said. The girlfriend filed a stolen vehicle report, and Arroyo was arrested that night, the prosecutor said. Hutchinson, representing Arroyo again, asked for his release on low cash bail and opposed revoking the bail in last month’s case.
Arroyo had a good reason to be angry before his arrest on Aug. 24, the defense lawyer said. “I’ve never heard of anyone being stopped for a (bicycle) helmet violation,” Hutchinson, a former prosecutor, said. “He was asserting his rights” against police harassment, said Hutchinson, adding the officer who arrested Arroyo on Aug. 24 also participated in the Sept. 1 arrest.
So let me get this straight. He’s being targeted by the cops as some sort of police conspiracy. Which means that his Mom, girlfriend, and brother are all in on it, since they called the fuzz on him too? Yea, this guy sounds about as qualified the first lawyer they fired in My Cousin Vinnie.
As for the alleged death threats, Arroyo is a rapper and was quoting lyrics from other rappers denouncing police abuses, Hutchinson said.
Well, this just keeps getting better. What are the odds that a “gangsta” living with his mother and driving his bicycle around town would have a burgeoning rap career? Never saw that one coming.
The second arrest, Hutchinson said, was payback for the first one. “They just had it out for my client based on what happened a week ago,” he added.
Yea, it’s weird how cops aren’t really fond of you when you threaten to kill them at Walmart. Stupid snowflakes!!
We anxiously await the impending MASSIVE civil lawsuit. We highly recommend that Mr. Arroyo gets in contact with “he who shall not be named” from Fitchburg, who also has much experience in suing police departments that have arrested him for no reason. You’ll be swimming in Benjamins by the time this one is over!!
